Hello,
I was wondering what you folks consider YOUR perfect squirrel buster rifle setup? Maybe you have it already who knows. What gun, caliber, pellets or slugs, preferred max shot distance, power level, etc. I currently use a rti prophet 1 with the 22lr barrel shooting 25.39 at about 947 for about 50fpe. I am sighted in at 30 yds.

Let's hear and see those squirrel busters!

Thanks
Jon

At my friends place I have taken ground squirrels out to 120yds with my RAW HMx using either 18gr pellets (@ 970fps) or NSA 17.5/20.2gr slugs (@ 950 & 925fps respectively), I use slugs if there is wind, load one mag with slugs the other with pellets. I should actually try the JSB Redsigned 25gr which I have a few tins of for the

This PP700SA has more bodies than all my other rifles combined and multiplied x20.

Most were with the 22 barrel using AA 16gr going 650 fps. Most at 18 yards, the distance from my office window to the bird feeder.

It currently has the 177 barrel in it shooting 8.4gr JSB at 10fpe. It’s set up for lizards.

My P35 25 cal shooting 34gr FX pellets at 37 fpe is currently set for the tree rats. But I haven’t seen a squirrel since I received it 😂

I would like a Huben rifle and pistol. I can't decide which I want more first. I'm a pistol guy at heart and I would mount a nice 2-12 rifle scope on it and go with it.

Perfection doesn't exist but pursuit of perfection we try.

For my backyard it's my Dreamtac Compact shooting 177 hades @ 10.5FPE, grants my Crown ultra compact is a very close second.

Also have my Impact compact in 22 that weights less than 7lbs scoped for higher power outdoor squirrels.
I had looked at an impact compact or a maverick compact but with me being left-handed I don't think I'd like to maverick magazine location. I have looked at the Pantera hunter as well. Here lately I've been looking at the crown in 22 with a 380 mm barrel. I wish they offered that in 177 that barrel length

My two main squirrel busters are AGTs out to 40 yrds.
Vixen standard , .22 cal , GTOs 11.75 gr at 830 fps
Uragan 2 Compact , .177 cal , Zan 10 gr at 735 fps
Out past that distance I'll grab the K1 , .22 cal 25.39 gr at 940 fps, most are taken under 40 yrds for me.
Current tree rat count is at 234 kills.
