UK Tomahawk comb too high

How I got my .25 Tomahawk. The comb is too high to even mount a scope. IDK why. I bought the gun on eBag. Listed "for a friend".

Compared to my .22 Tomahawk. See? It's way too high

Here it is cut down and refinished. I still have to use high rings. Hawke 2-7x32 Airmax mounted for pix.

Now I need time to shoot it.

Thanks, Juan. I had to strip the whole rifle. The walnut was a little light so I used Minwax oil stain Red Oak. That made it too dark so I washed it down with mineral spirits next morning. Then Macarri RLO.

I don't think the Hawke scope is right for this gun. The rear ring is as far back as it can go in the dovetail. High rings are required to get a good view through a scope. So I'm going to select a 40mm objective. 50mm is just overkill and too stinkin heavy. Perhaps a 3-9x 40 that weighs around 16 oz. An Airmax 3-9x 40 is 18 oz. So is their 4-12x 40. SF's are even heavier so they're out.

With all the work you put into refinnishing that stock you might consider making it adjustable next time. Take out a sliver of wood to lower it then you have the ability to raise or lower to suit your needs. I have done this to a few rifles and always found it to be a major improvement. Whether you choose to refinnish the entire stock or just the cut surfaces is up to you. On a TX200 I drilled up from the bottom to allow two aluminum rods to slide in, then cut stock with a nice sharp bandsaw. The rods kept everything inline after the cut was made. Only needed to finnish the cut surfaces, did that with flat black paint, created a nice shadow effect, had many compliments!! Just some food for thought for you......

Good idea. Usually the need is to raise the comb for a big fat objective lens.
