Air Arms TX200 Breech Tube crushed

The compression tube has squished itself into a pancake style burr. Of course this has also damaged the oring. There does not seem to be any damage on the barrel side, except some light marring of the finish.

Should I locate a replacement compression tube or take the part out and file it down?

1 oring was removed to take this picture and the gun has under 1,000 pellets.

1 year old. I have emailed Air Venturi.
I have never dry fired any pellet gun.

Some sort of misalignment goin' on there, for sure. I'd contact the dealer and see what they've got to say.

Its just normal Wear and tare. Bit ee do sell a new tube for just $289.00 or send it in and let our airsmiths look it over

Pretty reasonable in my opinion

The transfer port insert pops right out with a drift punch. I may even have one in the shop. Easy fix, but the head space will need checked as that steel port should not be close enough to make contact with the barrel.

The concern is the barrel breech surface and the lead-in. Hopefully Air Venturi will respond and cover it under warranty.

First thing to know is that the compression tube (320HH) is not a single piece of metal. The very front of the tube unscrews and there is a fine o-ring that keeps it all together. Over time (it happened to me after 12 years and 75,000 shots) the front portion begins to unscrew and the piston becomes longer. In my case it was so long it was preventing the safety from actuating. Motörhead had to dismantle the tube, insert a new oring and tighten it up. All is fine now. So the front of the OPs piston may be unscrewing (England probably forgot the o-ring) and has caused the piston to lengthen and strike the back of the barrel…Just my$.02..

Tony Leach short stroke kit time or warranty it on the cheap. That is a bit scary, did the big black nut unscrew like Frank suggested?

I know Scott (Motörhead) used a three foot long pipe wrench with the piston locked in a bench vise to remove the nut.
Before he did he held it up to the light where I could the nut was moving…

A good gunsmith could sweat on a front sight on the baffle and then we could add a nice Williams Peep or open sight.

The black nut on the compression tube does not appear or feel loose, neither does the 17mm nut around the barrel. It makes sense that the piston is too long and is compressing into the barrel. Day 2 and no response from Air Venturi yet.

Barrel entrance does not appear to have any damage.

I think I need to figure out why this happened before replacing any parts. Need an xray to see how it looks locked up. Good to know that is the part though, just ordered some bits from ARH yesterday.
