N/A TX200 at 50yds in Big Wind

So what is big wind? More than a sane person would shoot in I guess. I was holding off as much as 11 moa. I gave myself a 10 minute time limit.Fist flag at 20yds, second at 35 yds A creek running between them. TX tuned to 863 with JSB 8.44 hrs in 4.62. Flags often hard straight out not necessarily in the cake direction. But how to you learn to shot in the wind? By doing it. Lowest the tails ever where was a bit more than 3/4 up and they were my heavy sail tails. I would guess winds of 10 to 20 plus mph. Yes I was the only guy shooting and they get a lot of rimfire benchrest shooters, they stayed home. Smarter than me, lol. 10 shots.

Nice shooting in that wind Jeff! You have a nice core group too with 70% of your shots👍. Pretty impressive with just an 8 grain spec of lead

I try to look at grass and leaves. But can’t really tell. I try to shoot in the wind as much as I can. What I found is first you need to make sure the wind is blowing when you pull the trigger not five minutes before or even on your last shot. Each shot is different when it’s windy. And if the wind is at my face or back I ignore it .
But shooting in the wind as much as possible. That’s what I feel helps the most.

Nice shooting Jeff.

What kind of internal tune are you running?

13.96 ft/lb...that's probably the upper middle of the sweet spot for a TX

That's why you use flags, they tell you. Everyone trys to make it hard. Actually they are common sense. The point to where your bullet/ pellet is going.
Shooting an HW97K from the bench with .20 cal H&N FTT, I videoed an evening shoot of wind plinking at 75-yards, and there was no way to compensate for the variable winds with any real accuracy. At best each shot placement was an educated guess.
During the shoot I had the socks point straight out either direction, as well as straight down. I had debris falling out of the trees, the hanging pill bottle was blowing clean out of picture frame.
I also had 11 moa of measured crosswind on one shot that day.
My flags are not in my perifial vision and often change while I'm setting up the shot. I don't realize the wind changed until after the shot when I look up and say, we'll, that explains it.
I am going to try to try to set up something with better visibility on this new range when it's done.
In the meantime I have enjoyed the wind challenge 👍

Yes it's a challenge and fun. You will get caught at times just part of the game. I even had tails going straight up in the air which I always attribute to a swirl. But in a match you have to just do your best. I always set my flags so when looking through my scope with my right I if I open my left eye my flags are right there line up. I have a Vortex 12 lb spring that is a little strong but I shot it first before cutting and at 20m indoors it drills. I decided to just leave it alone and use it for outdoors. Very light lube, used what came with the spring. It's not as smooth as my LGU is at 760 so I use the LGU indoors, It's sweet. I get bored when it gets to easy. The outdoor conditions hold that in check.

2” drift in 15-20mph wind is about right for TX200 with pellets.
Holding in the strongest wind centered was sbout 5.5 to 6 inches. Of course if you hold 6 and get a reversal, that's 12 inches.Strong wind is not the problem. 100 percent inconsistent wind is the problem, and that has been prevalent in my neck of the woods for the last 4 years. It's why , Flags are your friend.
