Tuning TX200 .22

I bought the last TX 200 MIII that Straightshooters had in stock when they were going out of business, supposed to be the full power US version.. I then bought a Vortek PG4 HO kit and installed it, gun now has close to a tin of pellets thru it and its only shooting at 11.5 ftlbs with Crosman Premir HP and 10.5 ftlbs with H/N 14.66 gr.. its very consistent with a SD of only 2-3 fps but I bought this gun as a Hunter as Im not much of a plinker other then to shooting for hunting practice..
So either I got a 12ftlb gun or Vortek sold me a 12ftlb kit in a HO pkg.
Been a few months since purchase so hate to bother Tom, I don't get to mess with gun much so took some time to get that many shots thru it.
If its a 12ftlb gun not happy as I ask if it was a full power gun when purchased..not sure if they would of had 12ftlb guns in stock or not.
On the plus side it is very,very accurate and is good for squirrels out to 25-30 yds.

Did you install the seal too? They are designed to work together.

Pull the spring out and measure the wire diameter. Its possible you received the wrong kit from Vortek.

Some people try to just run the spring without the seal, it works in some guns but not others. I'm not an idiot

Will pull kit out and measure spring if I can find my digital calipers havent seen them in awhile I also just emailed Straightshooters to try to verify ifs a full power TX..

Well just called Tom at Vortek and he said that they've had a couple other complaints about the same thing so hes wandering if maybe they got some mislabeled kits..
Over the weekend going to take gun apart and measure piston stem to verify length for him to assure its a full power gun then he said we would go from there. Waiting to hear back from Straightshooters also.

Does the cocking effort seem soft....my vortex kit in tx produces 905 fps with 8.4 aa pellets which is what I wanted.

Yeah I did call Tom he wants me to measure spring or stem on piston to verify one or the other, going to try to do it over the weekend.

I was going to buy a ho kit for my hw97 but right now its shooting at 700 fps crosman hp without kit which isnt the end of the world . Bet with the kit it will do 740fps

Actually no it isn't soft cocking at all or at least doesn't seem super easy to me, but I don't know what it should feel like since this only TX Ive owned..

Well I figured if I'm going to break gun down again might as well order another PG4 HO kit and install it while its down and if it is the 12ftlb kit installed then will just keep it for future use..and if for some weird reason the HO ki is the one installed then will have to figure out why shooting so low velocity..

I installed a PG4 HO kit in my .177 TX200 about a year and half ago. The gun only had about 7-800 pellets through it and was shooting 8.4's 915 fps. After the kit it shoots the same pellet 905 fps, the shot cycle is much better along with the ES and SD. BTW, I reused the factory seal with no ill effects, the Vortek seal is my spare.

I put a pg4 ho in my .177. It now shoots just under 12 fpe as well with their seal. The spring measures about 3mm in mine.

Mine is a tick over 15 fpe with the 8.4 gr pellet.

I have a Vortek HO in my HW98 that ended up shooting 11.8 FPE. I eMailed vortek years ago but never got a response. I can’t put the original innards back in because I bent the liner because it seemed like the only way the liner would get it out is to mangle it out.

Very seldom does Tom answer emails but usually answers his phone or at least he has everytime Ive called him.
