TX 200 synthetic stock?

There was one in the classifieds that the owner had coated in truck bed liner a couple years ago which is probably as close as you'll ever get to synthetic. That image still haunts my dreams but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

The 97K is a great gun too though and you won't end up in burning for all eternity after ruining a nice TX stock.

There was a nice 97K Black Line for sale in the Classifieds. Was still there a few days ago. What HW has done with their stocks should be criminal. Lewis and I had this discussion a few days ago. My new HW97K long barrel is a tremendous shooting gun. Everything you could ask for. But, the stock is so fugly I almost didn’t buy it. The checkering is functional. That’s the nicest thing I can say about it LOL. Beyond me why HW doesn’t offer a walnut stock in their flagship gun. I’d pay another couple hundred dollars for a walnut stock. Or they could have put more classic checkering on the beech stock for free. Steve Corcoran is the only winner the way they do it now. Think he’s going to get some more of my money soon. For less money than I’m going to be into it you can buy a walnut stocked TX200 and have a gorgeous gun and be done. Unless you really want a 97 that’s going to be the decision maker for some. Maybe HW thinks aesthetics don’t matter.

Does anyone know if I can get a thumbhole synthetic stock for my tx200mk3?
Alutec made an aluminum stock for the Tx. Unfortunately not Thumbhole.
I shoot one in Field Target. The stock picture below is not mine but it looks exactly like that.

That works!
my apologies to all traditionalists I know some are going to complain that it's Fugly. Aluminum stock on a springer BLASPHEMY!!! Aluminum/erector set/Lego toy stock? DOUBLE BLASPHEMY

Now onto the real content

Just a word of caution.

1.It's designed specifically for field target. It's NOT light. I haven't officially checked but it feels slightly heavier than my wooden Maccari FT stock.
2. I preface this with: his newest products may have addressed these issues. Unfortunately, his custom designed hamster and butt hooks has design flaws. I've since replaced his hamster with a hamster made by SubMOA (his hamster is still usable, but I just like the SubMOA one better) and I modified his butt hook and shoulder support. You MAY be able to buy his stock without the hamster and butt hook at a reduced price.

Otherwise it's a great filed target stock. Fully adjustable for LOP, hamster position, head position, butt hook, weather proof. I have been asked if there's been any temperature shifts with this aluminum stock. I haven't noticed any. Shooting in California, we've been fortunate that I haven't had to shoot in freezing or below freezing weather. High 40's to 50 F is probably the lowest temp we shoot at and I haven't noticed any POI shifts. At the other extreme, especially during the summer, we do shoot in 90-100 F (or higher) temperature. I THINK (I haven't fully verified this) there may be more scope temperature issues versus this aluminum stock temp issues (I also shoot with a wooden Maccari thumb hole FT stock and I score the same with either stock...ie I suck). Shooting in hot weather, I try as much as possible to put my rig under shades and/ or covered with either stock (doesn't seem to help my score any). Furthermore, there are PCP field target stocks built out of aluminum (again not an apple to apple comparison), and I'm not aware of consistent POI shifts with these aluminum stocks.

This Alutec stock is easy to dry off after shooting in the rain. As opposed to having "aqua anxiety" when shooting a field target match with a wooden stock soaking in the rain: did I seal everything on my wooden stock? when is this shoot going to end so I can remove the action and properly dry the inside of the stock? Am I going to get a stock POI shift from all this rain/moisture?

Finally, good luck if you are thinking of getting one. It may be unobtanium. Because I have only intermittently seen other Alutec TX 200 stocks online. I know he makes these stocks for the Walther LGU and I've seen one LGU stock locally and more LGU online. I don't know if Bruno (Portugal) is still making these stocks any more.

I like to shoot HFT with a pistol grip (AR15 style)or a thumbhole stock. Just worried about dings in a nice stock. I think I’d rather invest in a nice walnut thumbhole than another gun (hk97 black line). Just thinking out loud. Here’s a local stock I can buy CS800 but same price as a new one 4billsView attachment 324304

Very nice stock. If it was me, I would buy the CS800 and try to avoid dings to the stock. But more importantly, learn to repair/remove dings from a stock.
