HW/Weihrauch Twenty dimes! 177 Hw95 remains King.

This morning I shot my first Weihrauch. My 177 Hw95. I ran Five different tins of pellets through it with zero scope reticle adjustments.

It shot this target of five shot groups at 25 yards.

The worst group could be covered with a dime ctc.

After each set groups at 25 yards I shot two groups at 50 yards.

Two groups could be covered ctc with a quarter. Two ctc with a dime and one completely coverd with a dime.

I don't think I could do this well with any other air rifle I own. Especially across so many different pellets.

Thanks for letting me show off.

Be well

Ron, nice groups, especially with the FX. You'd be a serious field target competitor with those. I am surprised the FTT's didn't do better. Have you already determined your gun prefers 4.52?

Not Per Se. I've shot 4.51 through it well too. It varies a little lot to lot. A good tin of either is almost untouchable through this rifle. Problem is they're (FTTs) are not all like that by sizes. They are consistently sized within the tin but 4.51s can fit tighter or looser than 4.52s depending on the lot. Same with 4.52s. Sometimes I think the H&N sizers are on crack.

They're still excellent pellets that are still more dependable than JSBs. RWS probably makes the most consistent sized pellets of the three manufacturers. It's just their designs are ancient and hard to find.

It is possible that the FTTs might have done better had I started with them. By time I got to them I was somewhat fatigued. It was getting hot and there was breeze beginning by time I got to the FTTs. It was that breeze that dragged that single 7.87 to the left. In any event that's a lot of consecutive groups to shoot with that level of concentration.

Late to comment here, but I think one thing that needs to be brought to market is an HW97 with an adjustable butt pad and comb like the HW98 has. I can't understand why the one and not the other. I've seen a few 98's come and go through ranks of FT shooters, but there are always a few 97's, often with $500 after market stocks because the factory stock doesn't meet shooters' needs.

IMO adjustable combs are over rated for springers. The last thing I want is another point of contact to worry about consistent pressure. The comb on my 98 is dropped below the point of contact.

An adjustable butt pad on the other hand IMO is very valuable because it facilitates a comfortable position. I would put an adjustable butt pad on my 97 in a second if I could do it cleanly.

nice shooting, that wind will reak havoc on a 177 at distance.

I'm enjoy your showing off!
That's great shooting from both of you! 👍

Looks like 4.51 to me. What innards do you have in the 95? Good shooting!
It's a Vortek full power PG2 kit from 2016 and Vortek piston seal. Its springs and seals have been replaced a time or two. It's probably got >30k shots on it. Depending on pellet it makes between 14 and 15fpe. And very nicely I might add. So much for needing to down power to get good accuracy.

I've noticed some UK guys saying it doesn't do that well sub 12.
Probably my favorite springer. Proves you don't need the weight and fiddly loading of an underlever.

That rifle is a keeper...nice shooting
Thanks Mike. That's the rifle. I'm a mediocre shooter. I'm sure a good shooter would do even better with it. It's just a good rifle. My others can tie its groups but not twenty times in a row with different pellets and no sight adjustments. That includes my two underlevers.
