Tuxing Double Filter opinions

Does anyone have any knowledge of these Tuxing double tube air filters? Seems like they have one tube for cotton, the other for the mixed media filer cartridge. After watching a vid by Joe from Air Tanks For Sale, I am concerned about moisture buildup inside the cylinder, which Joe has a drain cock for in his unit. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Yeah you have to have an area for the water to condensate, preferably on the bottom of a vertical unit. I personally tend to think the desiccant doesn’t need the silica and charcoal but just the molecule pack in the tube. The other tune should have the high density foam but a place underneath for the water to collect. Unless you have an area for the water to collect, it will just pressurize through the high density foam.

This double filter is an overkill waste of money. If a compressors output is sending moisture to both of these sections then it must not have a water separator tower. Almost all compressors do. There are much better design double filters which consist of a water separator tower and a filter like the one on the right side of the photo. The two triangular relief valves at the bottom of the picture are pressure bleed valves. Unless there is a check valve in between these two filters there is no need for two drains because once one side is bled then there is no pressure in the other side so no moisture will drain from it. If a compressor requires both of these units instead of a single filter like the right, it is a poorly designed compressor.

This appears to be a well designed filter system. The black knobs at the base are the drain petcocks, and appears to be more effective than Joe B 's alpha filter. The down side is the larger volume required to be filled at high psi. The Joe B Alpha filter has a pressure maintaining check valve to hold filter media at a 2000 psi [+/-] level which could be achieved manually by watching pressure build up till it reaches 2000 psi or above the pressure in tank being filled. This filter is more effective at removing H2O from the compressed air if purged at frequent intervals. db

I just have a single mixed media filter. Added to the tiny Yong Heng filter it has lasted over a year now with regular weekly use of 15-20 minutes. I always purge the compressor at five minutes and change the Yong Heng filter at twenty leaving the old one out to dry and then reuse it. I keep the humidity in my basement at about 60% year round. Changed out a valve on one of my year old carbon tanks and found no moisture damage.

I would think that the double filter set up would werq well with a larger compressor in a higher humidity or higher volume arena. Looks like they both have drains on them.

I like your set up

OK, thanks for the information.

You concern about the volume is that you would first need to fill the volume of both filter tubes in addition to filling the tank?
