On the Hawke Sidewinder 4-16x50 IR scope, can one simply go back to the previous turret settings to return to a previous zero?

If the scope is working correctly you should be able to. Once you have your scope zeroed you can "slip" the turrets so they read zero when your rifle is zeroed. Then you know all you need to do is spin them back to zero and you should be dead on.

No problem at all! I like using my turrets rather than holdover for target shooting. It is more precise IMO. Have you checked out the Strelok ballistics app yet? A handy app for your phone that you plug all your info into (like chairgun) and it tells you all your holdover and clicks.

I feel ya on the mil-dot hold-off thang, Tweeter. I'm sure I have miscounted the dots and dashes more than a few times! In movies, I often wondered why shooters were changing the turrets after a target was acquired. I thought that it was a matter of poor technical advisement. I will look into doing the click method; I'm sure being able to just use the crosshairs leaves less room for error.

The only reason I know what little I do is because I learned it from the guys on the forums! And I'm still learning. There's always someone willing to answer a question and teach ya some, it's a great community for sure!

I feel the same way. My inquiries are always answered in a timely manner here on AGN, and the skinny is sound. AGN adds mad value to my airgunning experience. I've met some quality people here
