Turd in a Punch Bowl...

Its not too bad noise-wise,but I will talk to Donny tomorrow for further insight. The rest of the rifle is Very nice! A problem area seems to be the barrel band,so I removed it. The trigger is an area of concern,as well. There it Way too much 2nd stage creep. I fixed this by removing the barrel band screw and found it to be the same pitch/diameter as the stock adjustment screw on the rear of the C.A.T. trigger...only Longer. Just what is needed to nix all the creep. Works Very Well now!

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, methods, experience regarding the removal of the big plastic cucumber on the end of the Gamo Urban? I would like to add a Donny Fl. product that matches the quality of the Rest of the rifle...and probably make it quieter/even shorter in the process. Thanks People!

Mike.

Hey Mike, while I’m being kinda funny, one thing keeps creeping into my head. But, it’s pretty permanent: Blow Torch! Melt it away and reveal the bare barrel. Only problems are: 1, no going back 2, don’t really know if barrel is really threaded?

I'm not expecting it to be threaded...but I see that Donny sells slip-on threaded adapters in several sizes. I must say that I was Pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the rifle. I've gotten the trigger to be pretty good but I'm not gonna mess w/it anymore,at least till I run a tin or two through it. The rifle is Nice and light/short plus its stock is comfy and quite nice,as well.

I think they were at a super good deal Black Friday $229 or something like that? Or was it less than that? That was a real STEAL!

I would do the little ball bearing trick and reuse the factory screw then a little blue loctite. Don't try to overdo it otherwise it won't

cock or it may render the gun a bit on the unsafe side.

It's less now - $212

I got mine from AirGunDepot for $262 with AGN discount a couple of months ago. Cut the barrel band to fix the roving issue and put the longer screw in the trigger to fix that. Wanted to check the integrated LDC to see if any clipping was occurring (see Pyramid article on Urban). I removed the pins a both the front and rear of the LDC (punched them out) and removed the interior plastic baffles. I could see the barrel but did not look to see if it was threaded or not. I would suspect that since this is a Gomoized BSA Buccaneer that they did not make a special run of barrels without threading. You may be able to check to see if it is threaded by removing the baffles like I did. May not help, but could be worth a try. Be interested to see your results. Mine is plenty quiet for my environment but could be better. My PRod is mouse fart quiet with the hill ldc.

Yep, went down again this morning. Keep watching closely, it will keep going to a point, then back up. Last year it got down to $172, then it will spring back to over $300 or even $400

$158.55 based on todays Amazon "stock market" pricing if approved for their Amazon rewards Visa Card for an additional $50.00 discount.

That would make it as cheap at $122.00 if history repeats itself! How in the heck can they even make any profit selling so cheap?

When did the price drop to its lowest before it started to climb back up again last year? I get rather annoyed whenever I buy something at a really good discounted price only to find out the next week it cost $50 less and in some cases even $200+ less (with high end guns).

I remember the Benjamin Armada was down $297.00 to $305.00 from Walmart on line early last year then it shot straight back up again.

I should have bought couple of those but dilly-dallied too long waiting for them to get even cheaper.

I would first try to do an improvement to the existing Gamo LDC by experimenting before destroying it if it can be gutted out, but thats just me.

AKA hair curler and scotch brite soaked with any liquid pellet lube, felt padding inside of the baffles etc...

If those combination all isn't good enough, VENT IT AKA HUGGET EFFECT drill tiny holes around the circumference closest to the tapered cone attached to the barrel shove unlubed scoth brite there to muffle the holes to slow the air exiting those vents and repeat the hair curler scotch brite and or felt process... May work just fine with the stock internals just by drilling the tiny vent holes if you are gonna destroy it anyway.

DonnyFL should do it too IMHO... it will definitely make all of his already quiet ones much quieter... (LDC class103)

My Urban is due for delivery and I can’t wait. I feel like a ten year old waiting for Christmas. I’ve got the trigger mod planned out and an Accu-Tac knockoff ordered to put on it. I never would have thought of taking the barrel band off. Will this affect accuracy?

This is my first pcp so I have lots of questions. I hope I ordered the right part for the Chinese hand pump to get air into in the first place. I’ve mage one of those fancy plywood take-down shooting tables already and I’m thinking of ordering one of the chronographs that JWR featured.

I hope this thread continues. I’ll be glad to post any findings I come across to help make this little set up even better for those of us that own an Urban. Thanks for listening.

Tim.

Some guns such as the Gamo Urban can benefit by removing the barrel band while others such as the Umarex Gauntlet and Benjamin Discovery just to name a few benefit from adding additional barrel band support for better accuracy. Your particular rifle may or may not exhibit the need to remove the barrel band, you have to shoot it first and get to know your gun and see if you have any accuracy issues. Some do and some don't.
