Tunning?

Prod, MM hammer forge barrel, Hill valve kit, Huma regulator set at 1600psi, bstaley o-ring mod (using 4), HST all the way CCW, striker 2.5 turns in (cw) from all the way out (ccw), ~500fps at muzzle with CPHP so about 8fpe

So I get about 70 shots on the regulator and another 30 off the regulator, starting at 3000psi ending at 1000psi. Off the reg fps is about 20-30fps faster. Does this mean my reg is set too high? How come so many shots off reg? Is my efficiency just way off? Looks like I should set the reg at 1000psi instead. Think the Huma I have only goes down to 84bar (about 1200psi).

I have this set up for rats at max distance of about 10meters, some indoor some outdoor. The CPHP will go into a 2x4 with about 3/16" from the back end of the pellet to the surface of the 2x4 at 10meters. I'm thinking that it is still too much power and will go thru the rats and cause damage while indoors. Maybe set it down to 5fpe??

Good thing set as is it'll do dime size magazine groups at 10meters using a red dot and sooooo quiet.

I can't remember what my huma reg is set at? I want to say 1500psi but I am using a modified valve, and larger tp. I am also running mine about 18fpe with polymags. When mine falls off the regulator, my velocity just drops. I would try dropping the reg pressure down.

Also, at 5-6fpe, I don't get much penetration indoors when shooting sparrows and pests.

Are you guys experiencing any leaks with your Huma prod regulator. I've tried replacing the plenum oring and running it with and without the gauge block. My gun still leaks with the regulator install. Without the regulator there's not leaks at all.

I had a leak when I first installed mine. It was coming from the valve to plenum oring. I put the grease on thick and used a dowel rod to firmly seat the reg and plenum against the valve face. Never had another leak. The few Prod's I have regged for others I used the same method and have had no leak issues reported.

So got it down to 400fps/5fpe using CPHP, Huma set at about 1200psi. At 10m on a 2x4 the head will be in while the skirt sticks out, I think that would be perfect for rats and not pass thru. Gets 130+ shots on the reg. Noticed that the group got a little larger, under the size of a quarter while at 8fpe it was dime size.

You have sparrows in your house? Might I suggest closing the window. I'm a radical thinker!

130 shots is pretty nice. I might lower my fps too once the leak issue is resolved. Most of my backyard plinking is under 20 yards. With more shot count and being quieter is a great combination.

You must be a city boy? I live in farm country where we have barns and silos and building which we consider indoors when we are inside of those structures. No sparrows in the house. Lol

I assumed accuracy would degrade in .22 at that low of speed, but should be perfect for rats and tons of shots!! Nice work!!

I say try a wadcutter and see how they work there designed for low speeds and would pack a punch and low chance for pass through as well
