Tuning an Armada (aka Marauder)

Ive had my Armada for about a month, and now I am getting curious about its power curve and tuning, etc. Clearly there is a flood of information on pcp tuning, upgrading hammers / regulators, particularly on the Marauder.

Im having the opposite problem - too much information to filter through, so I would like to ask what is your favorite source of tuning information? Is there a training series of some kind?
 
Hi Johnny,

First you have to have some goal in mind, what are you trying to use your armada for? What is lacking in current set up that you want to improve?

If you want better shot to shot consistency than regulator will accomplish that.

If you want more efficient air consumption than some sort of hammer de-bounce device, like twin spring system will do.

If you want more power, than looking into after market valve is best.

The source for adjusting ( so often refered to as "tuning" ) the marauder/armada is the owners manual...............and a Chronograph.

That's it, pellets/air/chrony.allen wrenches and manual and you are all set.

Presently, the only goal is knowledge. If I wait until the day I need the knowledge, I wont have it.

My day-in-the-life setup is pretty mundane - 15 yard distance, and I have a compressor so I have infinite air (unless it breaks - rare for China manufactured goods :-| ).

But I want to start training for different distances and power, so theres that.

Start reading Jeff's blog, pretty much all there, adjusting ( tuning) a stock rig. Installing a regulator , other marauder stuff. Really an excellent starting place.

Great you are looking for knowledge before hand! Much more fun than playing catch up after a sping fly's or such.

On regulators, the one Jeff installed is currently available for $69.00 and installs in under 5 minutes if you have never worked on an airgun before.
Yes you can acheive even better number using a regulator AND custom striker,valve........., but, just drop on in no matter how your rifle is set on you will have an extreme spread of less than 15fps.
A nice simple start towards making your marauder shoot as well as you can.
