Tuning advice

Please forgive me for two things. First im not sure if this should go here but did not see a category that seemed to fit.

second for the poor shooting in the picks. In my defense they where today in HOT central Louisiana freehand off the back of a jacked up pickup with my heart pounding from this fat boy trotting back and forth 100y.

here are the fx chronograph results:

1595698167_14342480085f1c6bf7c7c233.47551219.jpeg

actually 58 shots not all where chronoed.
878 Avg FPS at about 90 FPE using JSB Diabolo 44.75. Reg is right at 100bar from utah airguns on a FX Impact X MK2 with a superior 700mm liner in it.

this was holding1-3/4 mills low at 25 and dead on at 50.

after fiddling with scope (which is not for airgun hunting.

after struggling to get a steddy position leaning on truck i finally got the above 8 in black at 100Y im guessing 3” or less. Dident bring my calipers. And 7 in center about a inch at 50 holding last mil dot on 100Y and 1-3/4 mill low at 50Y

now for my question. What is yall best advice on improving this setup beyond a bypod (which im working on got sand bags just just not smart enough to bring them). I want to work on best tune because i hope to be doing 50/50 bench and freehand shooting ((for fun not competition) the targets show ill not be ready for that ever)

my gun is:

FX Impact X MK2 700mm superior liner .30 cal

ammo JSB Diabolo 44.75

reg: 100bar

Power wheel: Max

hammer spring: .688

Rebound valve: .335

From 250bar 5 mags later has tank at about 125bar

in all my life i think i have found a airgun that shoots infanatly better then i can shoot it.

ok. that explains something. Reg pressure was right at 120 when i got it and after the first 1 or 2 mags it seemed to settle at 103 ish and is now setting at 100. what spread and deviation do you get now.

How many shots would yall say should season the barrel properly?

as an example i used to tell people never carry a gun unless you put 100 to 200 rounds through it, then i bought a sig P365 now i say 500 to 1000 <G> so are pcp about the same?

Been a while since I shot over the chrono but it has always been less than 15 fps spread and usually better than that depending on the tune. I think with slugs it was 4 fps spread. Mine was funny, turn up to 140 bar take a few shots and it was back to 130, I think I did this 3 or 4 times before it stayed at 140 and other times it would go up and down between shots by itself. I do remember that I put a couple drops of silicone oil in the air hose when I filled it thinking a little lube couldn't hurt the reg situation.

ok this is what i managed today. My FX chrono is not catching all shots may be because i'm shooting down a lane in the woods with random weeds and small saplings in the lane what do yall think.

48g

The above where shot with NOE molded Diabolo 46g and 48g pellets unsorted and un-culled ffrom casting as long as the pellet came out in about 97% good shape.i used them just to see how well they do as is. looks like they would be good for cats out to 50 yards. (wait did i say cats?.... they are legal targets right?... never mind forget i said anything 👀 No habla policia)

i'll keep shooting a few more tins to see if reg settles down i'm only at about 250 rounds down the tube so far.

Airgun nation post 8/16/20

Gun:

FX Impact X MK2 700mm .30 with amp reg and power plenum.

Scope:

Athlon Argos BTR (Gen. 2) FFP 6-24x50 APMR IR MIL reticle

Factory settings:

Power Wheel. : Max

Hammer Spring.: .688”

Rebound Valve. : .335”

Regulator BAR. : 110

Speed. : 644 fps

Pellet. : NOE Diabolo 51g

900+ shots later

First tune:

Power Wheel. : Max

Hammer Spring.: .607”

Rebound Valve. : .335”

Regulator BAR. : 120

Speed. : 905 fps

Pellet. : NOE Diabolo 51g

Regulator was set to 125 BAR and was shooting 930fps after 200+ shots the regulator settled at 120 and i took speed down to 907 with the rebound valve. Hammer was adjusted to just under max.

The pellets are cast from pure lead using the NOE pellet mold from NOE bullet molds.

Not weighted or sorted just lubed with silicone spray as they dropped.

The mold is designed to throw 46g diabolo style pellets but with the probes installed you can get 52, 50, 48, 46. Depending on the alloy of lead.

The sight in and test at 25 yards was one ragged hole you could cover with a penny.

This is the 50Y targets. StrelokPro said 2 clicks up so thats where i set scope.

I pulled one.

And again.

1597610919_5082948755f399ba711b691.66798552.jpeg

Off the regulator and out of time.

Did not have time to shoot 75 and 100 yards but maybe soon.

Fx Crony was

898 min

905 max

Will need more shooting to see if the spread opens up. Will fine tune horizontal adjustment when i shoot next time, looks like i need to adjust to left. I tend to shoot left with small handguns and right with rifles so i really just need to shoot more and see.

What do y’all think? Any advice?

Kevin
