Tuning a RAW HM1000x LRT

While RAW HM1000x airguns reportedly leave the factory tuned for the preferred pellet in each caliber, tuning for the growing array of slugs remains up to each shooter. The challenge is how and to what degree.

The RAW HM1000x is fairly simple limiting the definition of tune to regulator pressure and hammer spring settings. Barrel polishing and tuners are excluded for now.

Adjusting the regulator while it is in the HM1000x is not possible and it is NOT convenient to remove the stock and regulator to make adjustments, reassemble the gun and test. My idea is to max out the regulator on the gun and using an external regulator to control the pressure being delivered to the gun. An external regulator like the Regman tethered to the gun can hold a constant user selected pressure (well below max) allowing for the testing of projectiles and hammer spring settings and adjusting up or down based on results. Tethering the gun with an external regulator insures a stable constant pressure.

It has been suggested for testing to remove the regulator. A good idea if there is a fitting I can attached to the output pressure hose from the external regulator into the action housing of the gun. If there are other ways, please let me know.

Once the ideal pressure and hammer spring settings are found, the regulator in the gun has to be adjusted to the same pressure as supplied during testing by the external regulator. My idea on this is to use a regulator tester to adjust the rifle’s regulator which can be confirmed by temporarily replacing the pressure gauge on the gun with a large glycerin pressure gauge to confirming the output pressure of the regulator.
