Trying to Pick a Slug for my AEA Element .45 cal MAX

Hey guys, I am trying to figure out which slug to order for accuracy in the new AEA Element MAX .45.

I'm going with NSA. Should I get .457? Below are the choices:

Slug your barrel and get the groove diameters. AEA barrels are notorious for being completely out of it spec with the rest of the industry.

I’ve had 2 AEA rifles and sold them. I think they are horrible guns but that’s just my opinion based on my experience with two of their models. One was a 457 and the groove diameters measured .46283. I cast all of my own ammo for all my rifles and this out of tolerance spec was horrible. I slugged another buddys barrel and it was .45596. So going from .45596 to .46283 is a BIG swing in diameter. I’m glad that at least I could cast ammo for it but it’s still shot like crap.

The “30” cal AEA I had slugged at .30651, again a terrible manufacturing spec.

I’ll never buy another AEA.

One sided conversation here...

Mr Hollopoint just informed me:

"Since it's a single shot, we won't have any limitations like the challenger or hp series.
I suggest the 170, 200 and 260
I don't think the power curve will do well past the 260, even though the 280 and 300 will fit.
I'm working on a 220 grain nut

Probably not related to the ammo weight. Air guns blow parts randomly. Usually o-rings. You have a $2000 gun and it's function depends on a $1 o-ring. Welcome to the World of PCP.

The .457 NSA 196g and the NSA 296 knurled HP shoot moa at 100 for me. At 200 the 196 do 2.5 moa and the 296 4 moa. Mine didn't like the NSA 240gs.

I think on AGN or AEA Element Max FB group ppl have had luck with Griffin 196 slugs as well .

If your blowing air out the barrel the valve poppet isn't sealing. There is probably some debri on it. You'll need to clean it off and it should be fine. You might be able to fire a few shots to clear it as well.
