@jpgf I believe that your issue is that you don’t have enough posts to send a private message. If I’m not mistaken you need to have 5 posts. I’m trying to find the written rule for you.

Yes, I understand why, not the reasoning but anyway. Would like to make the fellow an offer if perhaps there’s another way. 
I guess I could quickly make up some topics

I PM'd him and let him know you posted, so he can contact you if he wants. The rule is to prevent someone from opening a new account scamming one of our members and running. Sorry, that's the way it is today.

Thank you cmatera. I figured it was something to do with scammers. Fortunately my mind doesn’t work that way. I’ve often thought if scammers put all their energy into something useful they might actually make something of themselves. 
Oh well, I’m just an old guy
