Trying my hand at stippling

Messed up the inletting on a grip that I was making so I decided to experiment with stippling

I used a dremel with a tiny carving bit. Anyone else do stippling? What do you use to stipple?

Looks good.

I've done some with a vibrating pensile. This actually upsets the wood to both deepen AND raise the wood to create a bit more grip.

Two good ways of doing the same thing.

I've messed around stippling plastic with a wood burner and some tips I purchased. Started on a couple AR factory grips I had as extra and crippled some numbers on a few AR mags.

I was thinking about stippling the plastic grips on my Crosman Triple Threat revolver as I can't get the grip tape to stay put over the finger grooves.

Finished the other side. Added a little design in their just to see how it would come out. Also, didn’t realize I made the wood so thin in some areas and went straight thru it with the bit. Thank God it’s a test piece

I have done a little in my younger days. I used a stippling punch and tapped that into the wood with a small hammer. After the stippling was finnished I used a semigloss black paint on the stippled area to make it standvout and also cover some of the little mistakes I made. Had lots of compliments, especially when I sold the rifle, it was a selling point !!

I like the idea of painting the stippling black. Would contrast nicely with the walnut.

Lol when I closed my eyes to sleep all I saw were dots! 
It’s kind of like meditating. Drown out all the noise and just focus on the task at hand.
