Trouble with air leaking out of my copper colored coalescing filter

I'm having trouble with the copper colored coalescing filter I just bought. Air just streams out the pressure release / drain on the filter when the knob is closed.

There's was no washer between the fitting and the knob when I had a look. Then I noticed a nylon washer on the floor. I assume it must have fallen out when I was unboxing the filter, so I installed in but I still have the same issue. Any ideas?

Is it possible there were two nylon washers and you only found one? Mine came with drain knob installed but some pictures of filter on Amazon show white washer on uninstalled drain knob. As long as threads are OK, I'm sure the problem is sealing between washer and drain hole, keep searching. WM

Not sure what instructions say in regard to installing drain valve, I'd make sure black knob was turned out all the way to make sure proper seating of drain valve isn't obstructed by anything internally. WM

OK got it working, thanks guys! The nylon washer I found on the ground was a red herring. I ended up finding a little bag with the correct washer. I'm just an idiot and accidentally hid it under some bubble wrap when I was unpacking the filter.
