"JoeWayneRhea"What's funny is I never even knew what the little dots beside our names even were for till he said something . Lol..I thought it had something to do with number of posts . I'd give it till end of the weekend , and the newest troll will be gone . Michael and Moderator s stay on it when they see a problem .
It is necessary to give everyone a fair shake.

We had a feature written into the code where if any one topic/reply gets Flagged more than X amount of times it is automatically hidden. None of this persons topics/replies exceeded that. Y'all need to start using the Flag feature more!

We will look into having something written for anyone who exceeds a certain number of (-) accuracy scores as well. You shouldn't have to worry about that particular user any longer ;)

Thanks for the heads-up everyone.

"Jonnes"You know what a GREAT feature would be on this forum (or any other forum for that matter)? A button that allows you to ignore/block all the posts by someone. It's the best way to deal with trolls.
I like that idea. We don't currently have that feature but we can look into it after the Holidays.

Thanks

Whoa, let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. The forum member receiving negative criticism in this thread has contributed useful information in the past, perhaps blunt at times but I don't believe his intentions were to necessarily harm anyone. And he's definitely not a troll according to my definition of the word. The administrator of this forum has dispensed far worse and disparaging remarks about forum members in my opinion, one in particular that was later called to task by the owner of the forum. Anyone reading Marksman3006's posts or have dealt with him personally know that he is a standup guy and wouldn't be swayed by the recent comment directed toward him. One of the things I like about Marksman3006 is the way he speaks his mind. I doubt he was bothered much by the comment. JoeWayneRhea is another asset to this forum and my opinion of him isn't diminished in the least despite his assessment of the situation. I realize a forum such as this should have some restrictions and rules to prevent chaos but they should be reasonable and not get in the way of the free exchange of information. Otherwise it just becomes a tool for propaganda.

Fair enough.
Was a bit of a pile on, and from what I could see the individual had his ups and downs, almost all the downs came after he'd verbally bitch slapped a topic or perspective from out of the blue. Blunt is not bad, but he never seemed too diplomatic in his follow ups even if he was justified. Yes he made contributions. He owes no one any apology or civility, which is exactly why his (or anyone's) continued presence is optional and not a right.
No winners when it comes to this.
The fact that he'd come back a week later for more... almost like he had a chip on his shoulder is the main reason I understand the outcome.

Beeser I concede this;
One thing I'd never argue against, is your championing free exchange of information, a bulwark against propaganda.
If that's all this had been about, I'd be wringing my hands.

. I maybe should have addressed it different. But seeing a guy belittling other forum members is just uncalled for . Like I Said originally, it's the kind of thing that makes new guys reluctant to post . And I want new guys to feel welcome here , like I was . And not looked down on . Or talked down to . The fact that Michael and Mods don't tolerate it makes the forum easier to exchange info without being ridiculed. Now I'd like the mods to lock this thread.....I can't see anything constructive coming outta talking this to death .
Then let's get back to playing with our BBguns :)
