Skip, do you have a part # for this spring you mention? Mine had no such spring.
I've tried the roller bearing mod, you CAN make it unsafe easily that way, but you can also have a much better trigger and still be safe IF you arent trying for too light weight. It does work well.
Not this model ( but a Gamo 1000) the Charlie trigger was outstanding, safe light and fairly clean/crisp.
You can do it yourself , the anit bear trap may be fun for a minute, as mentioned a spring compressor is anything that will safely work - mine is part of a head board & a thick thread rod and some wooden clamp/channels to hold the rifle still.
If you decide to work on it please take some pictures for us. Some of us do better with just a few pictures than a 1/4hr video - that takes 2hr to watch on a slow connection.
