I only have one Walthers, a LGU Varmint. Of all my rifles(15-20) my Walthers is most comfortable, has smoothest action and quietest shot. 
Are the older Walthers as pleasing as my LGU?

I don't own any modern Walther rifles so I can't compare. These vintage models are very low powered and typically intended for 10M match so the recoil is extremely low. The LGV Special which is about the same power as the other Walther's above (~5-6fpe) has counter wound springs, a heavy barrel sleeve and a thick stock. It's about as close to recoiless as you can get without having a true recoiless springer.

I don't have any of the newer Walther sporters, either, but as far as I know they bear no relationship at all to the old target guns, which went out of production in the early 1980's. As DMM mentioned, these are strictly 600 FPS class 10-meter competition rifles; the receiver tube is actually just slightly shorter than an HW 30.

Congrats on the 300T Mike! I know you have been on the hunt for some time for one. I saw it on AA from Trout Doc and thought you might get it.

Thanks. I am completely blown away by all the models and manufacturers. From the butt to the muzzle they spared no expense on details. I was like the rest of the world and thought a pellet gun was a Diana 24 or a Crosman pump. These collections and literature you guys provide is second to none. Crow

I saw it a few times but went right past it because I was not looking close enough. I thought it was a 300S as those seem to be so much more plentiful. When I actually took the time and read it correctly then clicked and saw the pic I was excited. Jim and I worked out a very fair deal and it was here in a matter of days. Now I need a nice sunny day and few minutes to get some more pics and group shots.
