Tried some .452's in my .457 Texan.....worked great

Leaning against a tree in 20mph wind I shot a 3 shot group at 3000 psi and 90%ish hammer preload
Texan Long CF
They seem to fit the brech perfectly.
And they are avalible at most academy Sports

Thought I'd share.
They are .50 sabot rounds and measure .452" hard lead so do not expect expasion.
I'm looking to pass through bucks at 20 yards so I'm more than happy with the results.

Good deal! I was asking about using sabot rounds in a texan 50 to shoot 45 rounds not long ago. What kind of max range are you getting? And, did you notice any fouling from the plastic going through the barrel?
I'm not using the sabot
Its .50 cal sabots but I only use the lead bullets inside for my .457

The Texans slug .457" so there vill be blow by and sometimes erratic grouping as the undersize slugs might engrave rifling a little askew.

Lots of cast .457" bullets to be had!

And if you want to try sabot rounds what about .357" bullets in the 45"?:
