Events Trenier 100 in Sparta Wisconsin... Saturday, Sept 28th...

I'll be attending the Trenier 100 in Sparta, Wisconsin this Saturday (weather permitting)… Perhaps I will meet some of you there...!!!

Two weeks ago I competed in my first ever HFT Match... This weekend I am going to compete in my first ever 100 Yard competition, 25 targets, 25 shots, 30 minutes to complete the round... Bench and bags for me, I'll be shooting my FX Crown 25 with 600mm Barrel, Hawke Airmax 30 Compact SF, 6-24x50, I'll be shooting JSB 25.3 grain domes...

Hopefully I won't make a fool of myself, I hope to see some of you there...!!!

So, I got some final practice in today, shot a bunch of five shot groups, trying to analyze where I am making mistakes, seems mostly my hold and body position with the bags, when I do everything right the rifle is doing well...

This first board was early today, very windy, I still needed to shoot and practice all of my basics, hold, sight picture, trigger squeeze and follow through, the wind gave me a couple short breaks early and I was able to put a couple groups together and stay on target, I believe my scope is dialed in now... I measured my target distance today with a tape and put stakes in the ground, yesterday I was shooting 108 yards... This one is from this morning, it was windy, gusts to 20, steady about 12-15 mph...

This next board was this afternoon, the wind gave me a little break, I put some together this time, the rifle is zeroed, when I do my part the rifle is a laser...

I doubt I'll get to practice anymore before the shoot, I will do the best i can and hopefully not make a fool out of myself...

hey great shooting 100 yards makes big difference wind will play games on ya. gotta start somewhere as long as your having fun and don't get disguised that's all fun practice is everything good luck and have a great time

Thanks Doug... I need to slow down, concentrate on all my basics, when I put it all together I am shooting well, the winds the last two days made it hard to get a handle on zeroing my scope, the wide open field I've been shooting in is quite a challenge, my scope and rifle are dialed in as best I can right now... The only issue I have with my Crown is the smallish pistol grip, I have large hands and its very uncomfortable... Not too bad for a old blind man with a broken back...

Ok, a few final tweaks and modifications to my FX Crown and I am as ready as I can be, here's my rifle ready to pack and go shoot 100 Yard EBR...

Off I go to pack and get ready for the long drive up to Sparta, WI...

Thanks Art...!!! 3.5 hour drive, not so close, worth the trip to get out of my box for two days... I’m in Sparta now, got a room for the night... In the morning I’ll be rested and ready (I hope) instead of driving early tomorrow... I will have fun and hopefully not make a fool out of myself... The Crown is dialed in, scope is zeroed, it’s all on me now...

Have a great time! I had the pleasure of stopping by Trenier a couple of months ago and meeting Jeff and a few guys hanging out shooting there. I am a newb to airguns and they were all really helpful and generous with their time and knowledge. Let me spend a little time shooting his gun which was lots of fun. What a great bunch of guys! Wish I lived closer to take part in some of these events. Glad you’re posting pics. Good luck to you!

UPDATE: It was a great time...!!! I think I did OK... 155 in the first round and 166 in the second round, mostly my mistakes, the wind is tricky at 100 yards...!!! I will do better next time... I really have no benchmark, so it is what it is...

That'd be me in the last photos, on the #2 Bench... Here's a good one, my last shot on my last target was a 10, I did better in the second round, even though the wind was going quite a bit more, I was beginning to learn my hold offs for the wind based on the flags, I will practice, practice, practice and do better next time...
