Years ago Mepps lure's would take tails and I think give like $.04 each towards lures.

Yes it is used in a lot of various flies. Some tails are just better than others and that is a good tail.

I have plenty but someone else may want it. It needs to be cut off ASAP and stick the cut end into some salt. The process to actually cure the whole tail is more involved.

Here are couple of small Tenkara flies that I tied with trimmed Squirrel Tail.
