Transfer port?

I'm a fairly new to airguns, less than a year. When someone mentions the transfer port, what exact part is being discussed? I've removed the barrel from my airguns, and there is a port near the breech with an o-ring on either side. Is that port the transfer port? Or would that be labeled something else? Please excuse my lack of knowledge, I'm trying to learn all this so I can work on my own guns...Thanks!

Sounds like you've got it.
Normally a metal piece sandwiched between a seal or oring. On say a QB or 22xx one might replace this with ice maker tubing.

Knowing your model might help, pictures man, some of us have trouble "picturing".

and in a B50/51 they do have an oring on each side.

Yep. The "transfer port" is the inlet where the air feeds from the valve to the barrel behind the pellet. The way I see it in my own mind is the barrel hole is only part of it. There are 3 parts in my mind. 1. the outlet hole from the valve, 2. the inlet hole in the barrel, and 3. something between them to seal it.

Hope that makes sense. I think you are on the right track.

Thanks. I'm looking at a Daystate Renegade .22 cal., haven't disassembled the valve house yet, but have removed the barrel and replaced the two outer and one inner O-rings. Noticed the "hole" in the barrel, and was interested how the flow through the transfer port could be improved? Obviously the barrel "hole" port and the port from valve to barrel that allows air to flow from the pressure volume through valve to barrel. I'm looking at increasing flow in order to shoot the new .22 JSB Monster 25gr. at a decent (825 to 850fps) speed. I know the port through the valve house to the valve from the pressure tube is fairly small diameter, so that would need to also be increased in diameter. Appreciate the comments.

The guys on here can really you with tuning. There are a combination of things that affect the velocity. I am new to the PCP game as well Centercut. Thought I had the gun of my dreams when I bought my Sumatra.....Nope. Then when I bought my Airwolf...Maybe. I can't afford all the guns some of these guys buy? But I sure learn a lot from reading about their experiences! This forum has more info on the high end guns. Some other forums, (out of respect to this one, I won't name) have guys that get really technical! and You Tube is another great source of information. If this was easy? no one would do it!
