Trades gone wrong?

Just curious if any of you have ever had any trades go wrong and if so what you did about it? I ask because I recently traded an air rifle for another less expensive one plus money. The problem is I shipped my end and sent the tracking number but I have not heard anything from the other party and it’s been 3 days now. They said they’d ship Monday and then said they’d get it out Tuesday because of working late Monday. Now it’s Thursday and I haven’t heard a word.

Im not going to use their name yet but if I don’t hear anything today I’m going to post their user name here tomorrow. Getting kinda nervous that I’ve been scammed.

So what would you do?

If you are serious about knowing what I'd do, I wouldn't post on the World Wide Web about this problem. I'd keep it to myself and deal with it privately, since it is a private deal. I always believe in 'caveat emptor', but if you got stung, you need to deal with it between you and the other party. Not intending any disrespect, but you asked, sir.

I would call the post office ASAP and pay to have the package diverted/rerouted back to me. That is what I'd do. If the person on the other end of the deal is legit and simply is having an issue, you can always re-ship the rifle to them again later. Flip side of that though is it seems to me trades are the #1 way I see people get burned. (not just when it comes to airguns, but in general trades seem to be how people in a bunch of different hobbies get stung)

If the deal was made on this site, I would do exactly what you plan to do to possibly prevent others from falling into the same trap by the same person.

Agreed. Honest feedback is needed to help others avoid potential pitfalls and allows them to put protections in place. Also, good feedback allows members to justify the price they're asking. For example, when I buy from the classifieds I'm willing to pay more to a member with a history of good feedback because there is a lower probability of something bad happening during the transaction. "Give credit where credit is due".

ARE YOU SERIOUS????? yarddog , we are a close knit community that makes intense efforts to watch out for each other. "not intending any disrespect"? sure sounds like a parent scolding a child! remember kingston79 is NOT the bad guy here. he is just voicing concerns and nervousness that any of us would feel in a similar situation. he is COMPLETELY correct in bringing this matter to the attention of fellow members ,and , seeking assistance from another member in what to do.

Try to be more constructive next time , this forum is the peaceful solice we air gunners go to escape all the crap we all have to deal with in our lives.

It’s only been 3 days. Give it at least a week. I know I’m busy and so are many others. This is a hobby and not usually #1 on the priority list of things to do in life. If it’s legit it will work out. If not, then we learn and move on. Let us know if we have a “bad seed” that we should avoid if this doesn’t work out for either of you.

I have recently had 2 “deals” agreed upon through PM. I haven’t seen either one happen yet. Fortunately for me I was going to be on the receiving end and no money has been exchanged. It’s strange to me to have people say they are going to do something and not follow through.

Update, I have a tracking number and it should be here Saturday. Thanks for the support, this was the most expensive trade I’ve ever done and it’ll probably be the last. Too much at stake and although most people are good, trustworthy people it only takes one.

im curious, im on a few other message boards and some have specific sections for posting good and bad exchange experiences, is there a thread here for that?
