top reticle

This reticle really irritates me. I love it, it's perfect. All the points of the tree are not distracting or obstructive. The "R" grid is too busy to me. The reason this reticle irritates me is that short of winning the lottery, there is no way I will ever afford it.

Photo copied from Hector's page... http://www.ctcustomairguns.com/the-heacutectors-special-scope-by-sightron.html

I also similarly dislike the reticle that Gunnertrones linked as it's almost as awesome and just as out of reach.

(I tried posting pictures but no joy, even after watching video and reading instructions. Irksome.)
Ha! After cursing and much frustration, the OCD payed off. Direct link from Photobucket does not work, you have to copy and paste the IMG URL.

Agh, nuts! It's even better than I thought. That is a terrible development, lighting up all beautiful like that, terrible. I have strong feelings of self loathing for the unhealthy degree of desire I have for this scope that I cannot afford and will never possess.

I could sell sell a kidney... Unfortunately in addition to a crippling fear of needles, I have a highly developed aversion to my own pain.

Terrible.

Tom, I'm not sure if it's FFP or not? I doubt it is.
I ordered mine specifically for Field Target, in hopes it would help me range better. Should have it in a week or two.
Hector Medina had Sightron do a custom job on these babies and I'm not sure what's all involved, but figured if it's good enough for him it should be good enough for me? ;-)

Here's the post he ran in Yellow Ft page that perked my interest

Motorhead did a post on his Sightron back in July on the GTA . It had peaked my interest before Hector's special came along.

That Hawke Frontier looks mighty fine as well.

CampFussell, that's a fine scope. I am in the $300 scope area and a big fan of FFP scopes and Chritmas tree like windage and elevation marks. Like those on the MOA-H reticle and the Hawke TMX reticle that Tominco posted. Although neither of those are offered in FFP, I suspect that all those points of aim would be lost at lower magnification. Having said that, I wager that the two lower horizontal bars of the TMX would still be viewable in the lower power focus range. Now if Vector Optics could make a FFP scope with a reticle resembling the TMX reticle in a FFP variant, then I would love it and be able to afford it.

Matt Dawson of WWAG swears by these BSA Tactical FFP scopes from Midway. I believe he has 3 of them on different rifles.

For $250, you can't beat it.

I have a second focal plane BSA tactical on my FX 400 and love it. I actually like it better than my MTC Genesis and it was a fraction of the cost.
BTW, I did not pay $450 for the Genesis.....it came with my FX. Luckily I didn't have to learn the hard way on the Genesis ;-)

Maybe I'll try the FFP one of these days. I know it would be awesome if I was a hunter.

CampFussell, that post proves that brilliant minds think alike, and so do we😉. I have those scopes bookmarked in my search for a scope. Blackdiesel has turned me onto the Vector Monarch $190 (with a dealer account that anyone can have) https://www.omegamanufacturinginc.com/Vector-Optics-Monarch-8-32x56-First-Focal-Plane-Rifle-Scope_p_313.html .Thats top on my Christmas list, but likely will be getting with my tax returns along with a Vulcan 25. If my budget were not so tight I would go with your Hector on top of a Wicked Air Rifle Flex 30. I'm not complaining, it'll be awesome, just not the pinnacle of awesome.

I bought the Hector Scope for Field Target competition only. Mainly for it's supposed range finding capabilities. I won't really know if it's the cat's meow till I get my hands on it.
Supposedly the March scopes and the Sightrons are used by more World class FT shooters than all the others put together and I certainly couldn't afford a March scope.

I have a Mamba Lite 4-16 x 44 on my AA S-500 right now and it really snaps in to focus well from 10 to 30 yds, but beyond that is a guessing game on 12 power. It's my second favorite scope of the ones I have. I have a small Razor Side wheel on it with colored tooth pics to mark my ranges from 10 to 55 yds

I have an 8-32X56 Hawke sitting on my .25 Cricket rifle. My fav scope on my fav rifle ;-)

I have the MTC Genesis 5-20X50 sitting on my .177 Cricket rifle. This is the rig I want to mount the Sightron on.

Then I'll slap the Genesis back on my Dragon Slayer for now ;-) I think it has a Leapers mounted on it in this photo of my wife shooting it.

Got the ol' BSA 6-24X44 sitting on the FX 400

It has the SR Pro Reticle

I caught it on sale a couple years ago for $296 shipped from Optics Planet. I think someone screwed up at Optics planet with the sale prices because the sale didn't even last a whole day? Had to buy it at that price.

And here's the reticle on the Mamba Lite

And the Genesis Reticle.....I don't like it at all

This picture doesn't do the BSA 6-24x44 reticle justice? The mildot reticle looks no where near that fat when you look through the scope? It's way thinner or finer than the UTG Leapers Mil dot reticles?
