Opening day this year I shot a nice 6 pointer. I decided to stay out longer in the morning and brave the cold. Around 10:30 am a doe came in to my stand and started feeding. She stayed for about 5 minutes before running off suddenly. The buck came running in, stopped and stuck his nose in the ground where the doe had urinated. I took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. I hit it right in the chest and it ran off. I tracked it about 60 yards and found it with the help of my cousin. The rest of the weekend I was able to sleep in while my cousin had to get up at 4:30 am and face the bitter cold.
Thank you everyone. I was relieved and excited. I live in Illinois and they will never make it legal you have a better chance in Indiana for it to become legal. I have property in the U.P. Of Michigan and they allow air rifles for hunting. It was a fun hunt.
I have relatives in the Lower Peninsula, in Lawton. I use an Airforce Texan 0.457 caliber with a 405 grain slug. I use a Leupold scope which is designed for a firearm so I had to put a few risers on the rifle to raise the scope up.
