So I set out today to decide something I see a lot of folks talk about. Accuracy: .177vs.22. So I grab both of my rifles, some paper, and a few left over dots from my Shoot-n-c targets and went out back to set up. After running 20+ shots through each rifle to warm the up, I began the test. On the same piece of paper I take five shots per dot, three dots on each side, for a total of 15 shots per rifle. The left side is .177 and the right side is .22 with pellets pictured at top. The .22 held consistently tighter groups. All poops were taken at 10yards with the same hold using the same rest. So, as for your average and affordable pellets rifles at the local WallyWorld, go with the .22 because it will probably be more consistent.
(P.s. My .22 is a break barrel, .177 is a pumper.)
