today's ammo test with the Daisy "Avanti" 753

Tired several of what I have that fits. 10-shots per target, best of 3 targets shown.
I mixed the lot every 10, to offset the shooter and the gun warming up with practice.

I think the RWS Meisterkuglen takes the title. Consistently better groups than any other.

Benchrest at 50'. Testing the gun today, not the shooter, so it's on a tripod. Open-sights (diopter).

If the weather holds out tomorrow, I'll try to do better.

Thanks for hangin' out with me a minute!

Yeah, R10s are my "go to" wadcutter, but they're a bit expensive. I save them for competitions. :)

Same here, I'm planning on getting one of the CMPs 853 wood stock refurbs. Under $150 shipped, that's a deal.

I have two 753s, one scoped, one diopter. On good days it'll shoot 25Y nicely, but has to be near zero wind. 8.64g H&N FTTs seems to work best at that distance for me so far.

It's one of the few air rifles I've owned that I'd consider a "keeper". Quiet, light, lots of parts available, no need for co2 or PCP gear, single-stroke and easy to cock.

I do wish it had some after-market magazine system. My big hands and that little chamber... oh well. :)

BSA optics sent me a scope. It's "rated" for a magnum break-barrel, so it might be overkill for this little gun. :)

But hey, it's going to be great for my night #backyardplinking. The glass is a lot clearer than the Hammers I just took off.

Sighting in at 50' tonight, gonna be dark soon, I look forward to trying it out. If I get the time, I'll move over to the 25Y side.

today's testing crew. wind is calm, rain has stopped, time for a little #backyardplinking

These will be benchrest, 15M (about 50'), 5 shots each at 5 targets, I'll pick the best of the set to pic.

(sometime later...)
The TS-10s will not group worth anything in this gun, so I've disqualified and replaced with Gamo "Match" wadcutters.

(sometime later...)
Not a "winner" this time, but that's better.

(sometime later...)
RWS Meisterkugeln wins the match. Almost all others in the list had flyers, these never did of 25 shots each.

I have some 8.2gr of the RWS coming, in hopes they'll handle windy days a little better. A lot more noticeable drift at 25Y.

Well, thanks for hangin' out with me a bit today!
