To the users of leofoto ball head/tripod set ups

@BigHun Thanks for the detailed response. You’ve given me a little bit to think about. I’m not familiar with leveling heads and I hadn’t considered filling a tripod for bench shooting (probably because I don’t do much of it). How do you access the hollow portion of the legs? Are extending the legs fully and filling the entire leg? Does filling the legs with shot interfere with their telescoping function?

A short answer is that this mine Leofoto LS-253-CM legs are bigger circle when expanded=lowered, so I didn't use the telescopic function so far. Btw I can see in one year time amazon skyrocket the prices, this tripod was like $110 CAD.

Filling the tubes is easy and straight forward, remove the smallest collar threaded ring, pull out the leg tube, on the inner end there is a plug that gives access to fill whatever you want.

I had in mind to buy one more Leofoto LM-362C, those legs are shorter and larger OD tubes, but in last minute I changed my mind and those $$$ founds I directed to build my one-piece-rest instead. Last time I checked these tripods there were about $220 CAD in Dec.2021.

Here are the tables for two models Leofoto tripods, so you can compare what load can hold and how much room you need on the bench:
