To kill a sparrow

OK just a quick test , Shooting the Prophet in 177 caliber 13 gr JSB pellets , Kills them dead.
Next up is my Vulcan II in 177 caliber 1st up is the JSB 10.34 gr pellets shooting 900 FPS Kills them dead . Next up is the Hades also 10.34 gr make a little louder thud but the sparrows are dead.
Next up is Match JSB diabolo 8.26 gr wadcutters not sure the speed I am sure pretty close to 1000 FPS
No adjustments were made to the gun, All shots were in 35 yards, The wadcutters made a big slap sound , You know the sparrow pop, I would like to here from others that hunt with wadcutters I think they dump a lot of energy on impact, I may have to order up some 22 and 25 caliber wadcutters and see what sounds I get,,, Only 32 sparrows were killed in the pellet testing the other thousand are still out there. Now in all fairness I do dump a 50 lb bag of chicken scratch out each month in the back yard to feed the hungery birds ,
Is this HUNTING or PELLET testing?

Absolutely. At modest distances, .177 wadcutters are devastating to pests like sparrows and chipmunks as well as small game like squirrels and rabbits. After removing several hundred gray squirrels from a local pecan orchard with everything from an 8fpe .177 to a 45fpe .25 using a variety of different pellet types, wadcutters made the short list of preferred pellets.

FWIW several of my guns group the 9.3gr RWS Supermags nicely out to about 40 yards, but something closer to 25 - 30 yards tends to be the practical limit for wadcutters more generally. Some of that is at the mercy of Mother Nature since they get pushed around by the wind so much.
