Tips for removing FX Impact 1 Regulator Housing O-ring

My original FX regulator started leaking so I decided to replace it with a new Huma regulator. Ive seen where both Don at AOA and Earnest Rowe both say in their videos this O-ring is difficult to remove. Airbucks says to inspect it and replace if necessary? Any Tips. Once again, its the o-ring that is seated in the receiver block and is only accessible after the regulator is removed.

thanks

I've done that more than once -

It's easy to remove, it's a bear to get back in. here's a decent video from AOA of all places (they don't sell FX anymore). It's early Gen 1, so should be your gun (mine is also a Gen 1)

Last time I replaced the o-ring, it took 45 minutes to get it back in. 9 x 1.5 with 70 hardness. Recommend lots of task light, magnifying glasses if you got'em, and lots of patience.

If you want the tool used in the video to replace the piston, usually Ernest Rowe makes and sells through 910 Airgun Tuning and Repairs LLC or eBay.

If the oring is in good condition, I wouldn't touch it. Risk of damaging the sealing surface with scratches.

Other good videos include the FX Master Class series. Highly Recommend. I completely rebuilt the gun using the Master Class Videos. they did an excellent job.

Not sure that this is the best way but I have used a small screw and 'threaded' it into the hole in the middle. The threads hold it pretty well and makes it easier to pull out. I didn't have much trouble getting mine back in either but I used an 'X'-RIng, not an 'O''Ring.

My 2¢

The original poster is talking about an o ring inside of a small tunnel, and the o ring he’s meaning is contained within a groove of the tunnels sidewall, about 3/4 down the length of that tunnel.

Revoman, are we discussing the same o ring?

if so, what size X ring did you use that worked?

You are correct Augie, my mistake. After watching the video, I see that the 'O'-Ring is NOT what I thought it was. My vision as that it was more like an 'O'-Ring used for a gauge. My mistake for this instance.

My apologies to all for the mistake.
