It should be in production, but I imagine Christmas shoppers probably grabbed up all the available ones.

It should be, they are not only making a new Mutant .25 with anti double load feature etc but they are moving those features to the .22 as well. So expect an even better improoved mutant in Early 2017

I think their business shuts down over the Christmas period.
I have been trying to buy a replacement part for one that broke in my Mutant and I've been told not to expect an answer until after the holidays. WildWest were definitely expecting a new shipment of Mutants. There was no talk about them going out of production.
This is just the result of positive word of mouth in the internet age. You can pay people to give you good reviews and you can spend a ton of cash on advertising but nothing is as powerful as a bunch of real owners repeatedly saying the same positive message.
Demand for the Mutant now is probably higher than when it was first released....

A small part just snapped when I went to cock it. It's kinda annoying because I am apparently the first person this has ever happened to so nobody stock's any spare parts in North America...
