Tuning Tight fitting carbon fiber sleeves

I install a 500 mm 22 sleeve and a 30 cal tonight they both wouldn't go in very far in the outer tube I found they both fit the barrel very well so I lubed the up and forced them into the outer tube with the barrel out and just used my body weight to force them in till the were flush and found a socket that fit well and tapped them in until they bottomed out barrels both slid right in and was able to tighten up the retaining screw just till it was snug I read other people were sanding them to fit I just chamfered the one end a little bit around the outside didn't want to take all the time sanding them and breathing the stuff it worked out pretty well actually and I have a spacer made up which will work with all three calibers 22 25 and 30 all 500 mm I was also able to buy just a shroud for my 30 cal mk2 from fx like my other 2 shrouds this wasnt a universal shroud either just came in 3 pieces rear oring piece that slides over the barrel from air stripper/ adapter to 1/2 20 and shroud tube it's matches my 22 and 25 so my peek spacer will work to tension each one of them too

Good that you were able to fit it like that.

I had to sand one mine and then tap it in it was a tight fit for sure. I had to glue another although tape may have werqed as it had a very sloppy fit. None of the barrel housings are quite the same so it's hard to say what you may have to do to get the fit just right.

So long as it ends up a snug fit it's all good.

It's a super nasty task honing them out. If you don't have a lathe, then can use water and some wet-dry sand paper (~320 grit) around a rod to remove material. It can take some time tough.

If you have a lathe, you can get a little more creative. I had some thick tubing that was a tad too snug, and I wound up threading an end mill (the size of what the ID was supposed to be) to a rod that I threaded and bored it out carefully. It worked really well, but it was still a nasty task! (You absolutely need breathing filtration and eye protection). Posted some photos on Instagram afterwards https://www.instagram.com/p/COW-ZEbB4zd/
