I have the NX8 on my Matador Std .177.

Nice! That is a good rifle to pair it with.Ā Which rings / mount are you using with yours?

im going to guess you like those NF scopes. Hows your Impact shooting? What ranges have you been playing with.

Yes sir! I figured that I'd have all theĀ bases covered with those three for different hunting configurationsĀ and for BR. I'm thinking about keeping the NX8 on my Crown so I have a light hunting rifle. I have enough adjustment in the 7-35 to only run a 20MOA mount (but I needed more for the 4-32 a hence the Infinity rings).

As far as my Impact goes, I need to decide which caliber that I want to stick with versus changing it up every other weekend šŸ˜‚ . I really need to finish testing with the 43.5 grain Nielsons to figure that out. I was dinging a 6" steel plate 100% of the time ~340y out last week, but I had to cut my trip short before I could test at 400 again. That said,Ā 30 cal consumes a bit more air than 25, but the 66 grain NSAs and 62gr Varmint Knockers make it a 400y shooter,Ā unquestionably. I'm just not yet certain that 25 can hang with those big 30'sĀ in "real world"Ā conditions. We'll see šŸ¤”

I use the NF 109 mount. It is pretty low for a cantilever Mount and I prefer the cantilever mounts on the R5 series magazine fed rifles.

Interesting about the different cal. on the impact. Keep us updated on what you work out. I have a .25 Impact with the orig ST barrel and have shot the 33gr JSBs mostly in my yard out to 60yrds I have taken it to the range a couple times and shot to about 130yrds with extreme accuracy however nothing as extreme as 340yrds. What kind of velocity's are you shooting with those Nielsons.Ā

Those pellets can beĀ pretty good out to 130y or so, as long as I'm not the one shooting them! LOL..Ā I never got along with those 25 cal pellets, I don't knowĀ why - but I could never shoot them well past 100y!

As far as the Nielsen's - benchmark-wise, 1060fps thus far for 43.5 (running them around 1025 now)Ā and 930-940 for 66gr. I've had it turned up higher for the 66gr, but I do not like the way my MKII feels turned up that high for 66gr.

It is also very loud even with a moderator, like a suppressed 12ga shotgun with slugs. The rifle bucks and feels unstable when I tune it for those (mind you, my integrated VS is 6.35mm), but it feels just right with the 43.5's.

I thought about it more and decided to keep it in a 25 cal configuration.Ā My goal going into this MKII was to have it be a 300m gun. It is shooting sub-MOA on paper to at least 270m, and has no problem ringing that small gong at 340m shot after shot (with the FX slug liner). I plan to get out and do another long range benchmark on paper soon, but it's shown me that it hasĀ surpassed my goals already in this configuration. All that I need to do now is work on getting this 30" .250 TJ blank setup and test theĀ 43.5 NSAs and some 52 grainers (from Corbin dies) to see what it will be permanently tuned for. After that, no changing calibers / ammo! LOL

Looking good. I believe my ATACR 7-35 is the best scope I’ve ever used. I couldn’t be happier with it. It is massive overkill, and I would be perfectly happy with my Athlon Cronus, but I’ll keep using it while I have it. I have thought about trying the NX8, but I’ve just stayed with the ATACR, and I use lower end stuff for my lighter options.Ā

Awesome! Which reticle did you get?Ā The 7-35's is an incredible piece of hardware. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for hunting if it were on the "right" type of rifle, where the weight was balanced enough so that shooting off-hand wasn't an issue.

I don't think anyone can go wrong with any if NF's scopes. I'm prior military, a mountaineer, and just someone that needs the fear that I use to be tough and reliable no matter what. That said, if I had to choose a scope vendor for the worst conditions possible (e.g. combat, or a long hunting expedition somewhere hostile) - I'd choose an NF hands down! šŸ˜Ž

I went with the Mil-C. It was actually the first center dot scope I have ever liked. I considered going MOAR, because I like that reticle, but decided against it. Mil-C seems to be the most popular in it and easiest to turn around and resell if I didn’t love it, so I decided to give it a try. So far, I am glad I did. I haven’t gotten to shoot it much (busy season at work last couple months), but I am enjoying it a lot when I do. I think the appreciation for the center dot is growing on me, because I have started liking the Athlon Midas Tac center dot too. I haven’t liked them on any SFP scope yet at all.Ā

This pic is from a couple weeks ago, but I putĀ it in a Spuhr last night to give me a little more room to reach out when the time comes and to raise it up a little more.Ā

That's a very nice setup you got there Smok3y! Which Sphur rings are those?

The MIL-C is awesome.Ā I was surprised at just how much I use that little reticle on the right to measure for shot correction in my NX8.Ā

Those are not the SPUHR. The SPUHR is a one piece mount. These are ARC M10 rings, American Rifle Company, some of my favorite rings for my powder burners. I’ll have to take a new pick with the Spuhr this weekend.

Ahhh! I thought that I might have missed some new adjustable Spuhr rings there for a minute šŸ˜‚ I have one of their 6MIL / 34mm mounts on my .308,Ā it's solid mount - but, it's aĀ 1/2 pound. Trying to shedĀ some of thatĀ rifle'sĀ weight, and decided to replace it with this little Scalarworks QD mount that I got recently. (Cost was about the same as the Spuhr)
