thoughts on KRAL NP 03

Dang it, I keep thinking of more ...

Prod = 14-16 fpe

Kral = 25 fpe

Prod very quiet (stock)

Kral no so quiet (stock)

Kral easier design to work on

Prod years and years of after market development

Prod twist and pull bolt action - reversible for left hand if you want.

Kral easy use side lever (easy for left hand shooters, too)

Prod has famous Crosman support.

Kral is supported by a few custom gun tuners, and through Air Venturi. AV has always given me superior support.

If I had a way to start over again, I would choose the NP03. I still have and still enjoy my P-rod, but in my humble opinion, the NP03 is way more gun for the money.

I have a Marauder rifle and a NP-03, both .177. If I was to walk out to my yard with one right now, I would pick up the Kral. I like the way it feels on my shoulder and in my hand. It is loud though, but a DonnyFL fixed that, and it comes stock with a 1/2" adapter built in, so no extras needed. I prefer the side lever of the Kral to the bolt of the Marauder (my Marauder bolt has never been smooth though). And the bigger mag is better, obviously. I haven't had a chance to get in any longer shots yet, so I can't compare yardage accuracy.

I have a .25 NP-03 that I bought for a dedicated truck gun. It’s powerful, but I wouldn’t call it compact. The prod can be used with a foldable stock when adapters are bought, which makes it awesome for backpacking or carrying all day. The kral doesn’t have a foldable stock (wish someone would come out with an aftermarket option) which makes it a little big for backpacking, but the power is much more than the prod, and at 29fpe it’s still getting 25 shots useable!

i guess on he end, it depends what you’re looking for. Good power, good shouldering, easy to work on, get the kral.
light, small, low power, and ample aftermarket support, get the prod.

Is there a simple way to mod more power from them?

How do they shoot slugs?

I’ve been over these same questions myself, and the general consensus is, they’re fairly easy to get more power out of, but with such a small reservoir, the shot count is greatly sacrificed. As far as slugs, you’re better off with a bigger gun. Compacts like either of these are not going to be as accurate with slugs as more powerful longer barreled guns.

The NP-03 is just a carbine version of the mega which is a clone of the evanix rainstorm/blizzard platform that has been around forever. Easy to work on. Simple design and a lot more adjustability than the P-rod.

i would mainly be tuning this gun for shot count and low power. 12-16 fpe. is the hammerspring adjustable in the NP-03? would a stock gun adjust that low in .22 cal? any idea what this gun gets for a shot count at low power?

IMHO, slugs are not worth the cost or the search effort until you are shooting 100+ yards. Cost per shot is exorbitantly higher than good old pellets. Pellets are not worthless past 100 yards btw. I have connected with a ground squirrel at 152 yards on the first shot. I don't like to shoot that far in my main area of operation but out in the open desert I don't mind.

The Kral as an adjust-o-transfer port. You can easily dial the power down without tools.

Tunable to near 60 shots at 12fpe. I'm getting well over 100 shots from the 280cc Breaker tube so the 180cc NP-03 should get half that with the shorter barrel.
