My own personal feelings on this:
1. All kinds of accessories adds nothing to the fair value of a gun
2. I prefer to buy a rifle that was not molested in any way internally. Unless the smithing was done by a highly reputed gunsmith, I wouldn’t touch it. That’s just me.
3. I prefer to buy a new gun with a warranty rather than one that’s selling for just a couple of bucks less than new.
4. A one-of-a-kind, a good clean collectible, one that has a custom walnut stock? That’s another story. I could open my wallet further for that one.
5. No mongrels
6. Not interested in cheapies. You guys that buy these $300 guns from Turkey or Pakistan are throwing your money away. You can’t make an Anschutz out of a J.C. Higgins. There are some low cost rifles that are worth buying. The Benjamin Marauders come to mind. See no. 8.
7. A good used rifle should sell for 60-80 percent of new price.
8. Supply, demand, and reputation means a lot.
