Just to be sure they don't over charge you. Was looking to upgrade my rifle rest on my back yard air gun bench. One of Nebraska's home grown sporting good stores Scheels had the Caldwell The Rock Deluxe Front Rest Combo Adjustable Ambidextrous Rifle Shooting Rest with Front and Rear Rest for Shooting at 99.99 just 4.00 more than Amazon. I had a hundred dollars in gift cards, so I bought it. The 99.99 was a sale price. So I am on Caldwell's site for some information about said rest, and low and behold there everyday price is 89.99. So I called Scheels customer service and got a price match. Now I see that the Lyman target advancement stand in the below thread is on sale at (I thank the poster showed 79.99) on amazon but turns out it is 50.00 from Lyman direct. I will form now on be looking at the manufactures site before I buy anything else. So who holds the fault here? The manufacture for underselling there stocking dealers or the stocking dealers for price gouging?

I don't know the answer to your question but it's so easy to check prices online now that I just make it a practice to do a quick check at a couple of places before purchasing . . . because I HATE finding out that I paid more than I could have for anything. It just takes a couple of minutes to browse around to save yourself the aggrevation.

It was all done on-line. Just never thought a stocking retailer would be more that the manufacture. One of the fundamental business practices, don't under sale your stocking retailers if you are the manufacture.

I've been burned by counterfeit products on Amazon and have adjusted my shopping habits because of this. I typically do my initial searching on Amazon and work outwards from there.

Manufacturer sites are great because they're more likely to have coupons (search for "website coupon code") to knock the price down. You might also find refurbished products on their site. I am a huge proponent of refurbished items. They went through QC once, something happened and it was sent back. That problem was resolved and went through QC a second time.

let me tell yall a story about what happened to me today......
well it first started about 4am when i went to get my cell phone, it was dead in the water and would not take a charge. so i replaced the battery, one with a good charge and still no heartbeat !!!
so contacted wally for delivery service because i have my truck at the dealer getting
it worked on. i had no ride except for tag-less farm trucks.
anyway, i ordered a new phone and a protective rubber case.
waited about 1.5hr and it was delivered. i was feeding my steers when it was delivered
so they dropped it at my barn door.
i opened it and the case box up and i found that the phone didnt fit the case.....
so i got to looking and i discovered that somebody had removed the original phone and put an old phone in its place back in the box and returned it for there money back !!!
worthless POS !!! i hope they get a bag of switches this Christmas or an @$$ woopin from anyone !
aint it odd that wally puts returned items right back on the shelve ??
or could be an inside job......what a morning !! but i'm good now graze'n with my herd 👨‍🌾

Got a good story to. Worked for a large Gun store (I mean huge). They get a 1200.00 order for a Leopold scope. A couple of weeks later scope comes back as not what was ordered. The 1200.00 box has a new 200.00 Leopold in it. Being amazon the owner did not want to upset the apple cart because of a previous strike against him. So along comes me a year later, dealing with all the inventory that is just laying around in the back. I come across this scope, hey what the hell? The shipping guy tells me the story. So I ask why did you not report it? Uma, oh, well., but. So I call Leopold and give them the serial number on the scope.. It tracks back to the Dick's sporting goods in the same town that the customer who ordered it lives. So the owner of the store still scared of amazon will not let me file a police report. His money. I did get Leopold to list it as stolen so if it comes in for service the guy will
not get it back. Lesson learned, do not sell anything on amazon you do not want stolen from you.
