This regulator housing doesn’t want to budge

There is a regulator housing that I’m trying to take out in order to install a Huma…but it’s like glued or something. Any advice? It’s stuck like it’s been loctited in lol.

I would first cut about 4mm off that Allen wrench because it’s about shot. Then I would try a heat gun and warm it up. If it still won’t break loose then I would clamp it in a soft jaw vice and try my Dewalt impact with a hex bit. Might just need to be shocked loose.

I got a better screw but it’s so tight that the regulator housing is starting to shred…!

Nice, order a regulator rebuild kit and you are good. Shocking that it’s so tight but you won’t have to spend 100 bucks on a new bottle adapter.

Any cheap recommendations?

Cheap and what you need to accomplish = bad math. It’s probably what got you there in the first place with that allen tool. When working on a pcp especially of high dollar(which will have high dollar parts) I’m not going to say you need to own the best of tools but I’m going to say you need quality tools. A micro torch or a heat gun would’ve had that thing out easy.

like Gendoc stated, you indeed got very lucky. I have a feeling whoever installed that reg went crazy with the silicone and lathered the threads with it, which cause the reg threads to seize up.

Next time if you find yourself in a similar situation seek advice before things get mangled.

Yep but still got it hehe. Yeah I’m getting a Huma unless I can find a second hand AMP that is like new.
