Thinking we have enough rain ... Dang !!!

Last 24 hours a tad over 6" of rain, near 3.4" sense midnight and it now just past 8 am .... 17.8" for the month and it's still raining HARD !
Septic system is full of water, so no toilets, showers or water down the drains until rains stop and water table recedes somewhat.
All the snow ( Or most ) in the Sierra Nevada mountains under 8000' is getting rained on making it a slop fest !!! ... It likely will just freeze into glacial type ice once it becomes winter time cold again once this system passes threw.
Fresh powder snow on Ice makes for a Very dangerous Avalanche season ... Skiers & back country travelers beware.

Scott, Yes drainage around my house has become rivers these past few days. Would you rather go back to the past several years of drought? This rain is a bit much and most inconvenient for many but as Californians we haven't really looked ahead and come up with new ways of storing the excess. I truly am sorry to read you and yours are having such a difficult time right now.

We're fine ... House is dry and warm. Just is a reality check of the convenience of toilets and running water / drains inside your dwelling

Holy schnikes! We get some pretty wet stretches here, but can't recall any ~day & a half that severe.

Feel your pain about the septic. Not dealing with an "atmospheric river", but a wife & three daughters that seem to be competing for the crown of Water Usage Queen.

Pretty nuts for here in California, haven’t seen rain like this in a long time so it’s good for our drought, sadly not good for anything else. Went to go check my drains in the yard, while the drains are working but there are puddles everywhere and the ground is saturated.

I know what Scott’s concern is with the leech fields blanketing over with all this rain. About five years ago we had rains like this and my septic was back feeding back into the house! Imagine taking a shower and standing in 2” of water that doesn’t drain.

We call out a septic company to empty our tank and by the time he had all his hoses all tied back up onto his truck my entire tank was full but of rain water

I would think a big concern would also be mudslides from the fires decimating the vegetation. Be aware, be safe.

Being still within OUR time zone 24 hours ... it is 45 min before midnight ( new years ) and we're at 8.12" of rain !!!!!
Wholly crap, never in all my years have I witnessed this amount of rain inside 24 hours in this area !!
