Thinking of a Beeman R-7

The HW50 is a good bit harder to cock especially at the end of the coking stroke. However, I have not installed my ARH spring. Been a little too busy to make the guides. That spring may be easier to cock. IDK yet.

Regardless of how people brag about a certain gun, do try it before buying if you can. Or buy from a place with a good return/exchange policy.

Absolutely, I always recomend trying a rifle before purchase !! Everyone is different and so are their likes and dislikes !!

Homer, I have 3 R7’s and a late 1950’s hw30 in.22 cal. All shoot accurate. But like said above if shooting 40 yards and greater I would go with the HW 50. I had a .177 that I sold and now just have the .22. Both shoot nice out of the box . Nice short carbine I personally don’t have any issues with cocking effort. I bought the .22 hw50 from JM at air rifle headquarters a few years ago w a beautiful walnut stock. Very nice squirrel gun. Good luck with whichever direction you go! Mike

I have 2 Hw30s, both 177. One with peeps and one with scope. Ohhh I got my girlfriend a Hw30 also last year. She loves it too. I shoot beer cans at 100yds with the scoped one. If the wind is down I can hit it nearly every time once I dial it in. It has maybe 2 fpe by time it gets there but it's a real hoot doing it anyway. IMO the Hw30s are best in 177 if you are going to shoot past 20 maybe 25 yards. You'd have to be pretty good at holdover and range estimation past that. They don't even make 500 fps with 22 lead pellets.
I also have a 177 Hw95 and a 20 caliber R9 and the Hw30s are a ton more fun to shoot. If you do want 22 caliber and power after 30 yards go for the Hw95 or Hw85. The 85 is the same gun as the 95 but has a longer barrel. It will be easier to cock and gives you a longer sight radius.
I also am a fan of Krale. For the same shipping money you could order a Hw30 and a Hw95/85. You won't regret either

Yes, the HW50 in .177 or .22 would be the best choice for your needs. You can enjoy it out of the box or tune it for a possible bump in power and smoooooth behavior. The 50 is IMHO the pinnacle of the the Weihrauch barrel breakers.
Your original thinking was a light weight, easy cocking .22 caliber that would produce at yardages past 30. I always encourage someone and myself to go back to my original wants. The .22 caliber HW50 is the closest one to your initial want list. You will enjoy it.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on an R-7, I was set to buy from Krale USA, I established an account, I placed an HW-30 in .177 and a HW-50 in .22 cal. in my kart and was ready to place an order, they notified me that I had to provide a "proof of age", not having the where with all to include one with my on line order, I attempted to reach out to them through their contact information both by e-mail and by phone, I tried several times without success.
At this point I was thinking what if I had a problem with my order, the shipping, or the guns and I had to contact them, it appears they don't have a facility in the USA, that they conduct all of their business out of the Netherlands, and that's ok, but I don't need the aggravation, so when Pyramyd Air notified me that the R-7's were again in stock I ordered the R-7 Elite, which is due to be delivered tomorrow, being able to buy both guns for the price I paid for the one would have been nice, but P/A has always been easy to contact and has always had great customer service and quick shipping for me, apparently Krale's is a half a world away and is not big on customer service or easy access to their customers.

Not true they have always provided me great customer service including special orders. It's unfortunate you had a bad experience as their pricing and delivery is second to none.

Perhaps I should explain, when ever I buy powder burners I buy them in a local gun shop where I can see and feel what I'm buying, I am supporting the local economy, and creating a relationship with the business, I don't mind paying a premium over what on line stores are charging for the service I'm receiving.
Since I started to rekindle my relationship with air guns I've found that in my area there's only one air gun store and they are a 45 minute drive from me, so I generally buy from on line venders, all state side businesses, Pyramyd Air, Air Gun Depot, MidwayUsa, and Air Guns of Arizona for example, I have absolutely no problem ordering or contacting them for information or a special order, they've never insisted on my proving who I am or how old I am, I guess they figure that If I have credit cards, own a home, and a repeat customer I must be who I say I am.
When they post phone numbers there's normally someone there to answer the phone, and they accept e-mails without issue, in other words they don't require me chase them around to talk to them or make me jump through hoops to place an order, OK, I'm retired, I'm old, and I'm not computer savvy, but I did spend the better part of a day trying to get in contact with them by e-mail and phone with no success, however, when I decided to buy from Pyramyd Air, I got on their web site, placed my order and checked out without issue, all totaled it took me about six minutes, and I had the gun in hand in three days.
You and others have had no trouble doing business with Krale, maybe you're smarter than I, maybe you aren't computer illiterate, maybe you're just lucky, all I know is that it ain't as easy doing business with them as it is with every US vender that I've purchased from, anyway, I got my R-7 without hassle, I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

I finally purchased my R-7 from Pyramyd Air, I've done business with them for several years now and have never been disappointed, the R-7's were out of stock off and on for quite a while, I asked P/A to notify me when they were again back in stock, when I got their notification I ordered immediately and had the gun in hand in three days.
It was offered in two versions, just the rifle for $399.00 or the R-7 Elite for $449.00, I took the Elite, which is comprised of the R-7, a professionally mounted and sighted in 3x9x40 AO Mantis scope, a free 20/20 testing w/the Crono read out for each shot, when the gun arrived my son (51yrs.old) and I checked it out and then took it to our indoor 15 yd. range, after taking one test shot with it, we took turns shooting it, in total besides my test shot we fired about 30 shots, all 30 went into one 1/4" hole dead center in the bull from a rest.
Needless to say I am more than quite happy with both the R-7 and P/A's customer service, between my son and I we have at least two dozen air guns including one great PCP .22 cal. rifle, this R-7 is shaping up to be the most inherently accurate of the lot, I'm already starting to save up for a HW-50.
