Thinking About Trying a SWFA Again

Had a SWFA for a while and sold it. Reconsidering trying another 12X or 16X. Looking to compliment my WC 25cal with a lighter scope than the Hawke Tac. Anyone have one for sale or trade or who has the best deals these days? Can't actually remember what I didn't like it more my Hawke at the time. Might have been the focusing knob. Joe is pushing me to try one again.. thanks Joe!

Hey Jimmy, check out the sample list on SWFA's website. They list scopes that have been opened for what ever reason or have been used for demos. Can usually find pretty good deals on there. If you see a good deal you might wanna act fast because it won't be there long!

I love my 12x42 mil-quad it's the best scope I've owned hands down. I recently bought another sidewinder and don't even use it anymore.

"jking"Thanks for the link Tweeter. Can save about $30-$40 on a "like new in box" model. Wonder if the warranty would still be recognized. Now for the magnification decision. I shoot 95% of the time at 16-20X but a 12X for hunting mostly under 100yds might be fine. Dairyboy, did you buy my SWFA a couple of years ago? I got the CRS syndrome.

Hey Jimmy I tried to find out if swfa will warranty their sample list items and I believe they do but a quick email to them and you can find out for sure. Also came across a lot of posts on an optics forum that said swfa was very conservative when rating their samplelist scopes. In other words people who bought "Demo B" scopes reported that they were basically brand new with maybe a faint mark somewhere. Also the picture you see is the actual scope you will receive so that's good. I would buy a Demo B with no hesitation and save a few extra bucks.

I have no trouble shooting out to 100 yards with my 12x. I have never used one of their 16x42's but they get great reviews also. I wouldn't go for the 20x unless you planned to use it exclusively for longer ranges. That's just my opinion and also you may lose some clarity.

Bought a 16x42 fixed power mil quad a couple weeks ago. Labor day sale. $269.00 with a free sun shade and free shipping over $40.00. Was very excited to see what all the SWFA buzz is about.

Long story short... dark, milky, blurry image. Tiny, super fussy, hard to find eye box.Don't think I actually found it. Sent it back for refund. Maybe I got a bad one :(

Yes Jimmy I did! I did end up selling it though as I never ended up using it. I do have a 12x42 Mil-quad I'll be selling as well as I'm getting rid of most my guns and keeping my 10x42.

Matt, I'm thinking you must've gotten a bad one. Mine are the clearest scopes I've ever looked through.

I never use mine for rangefinding. I have a good enough guestimation when hunting that it makes no real difference. Also have a range finder if I want to get technical.

I bought the 12X from Dillon and got it today. I really like getting things shipped by and sent by USPS Priority mail. Dillon shipped it Tuesday morning and I received it today. That's pretty dang fast service. I got it mounted on my Wildcat and was really impressed with the clarity and the sharp (fine) reticle. I don't remember if the one I had before was quite as clear but then again I think it was a 16X. The only thing that I can possible recall as being the reason I got rid of the first one was the reticle being calibrated at 10X vs the 20X 1/2mil that I was use to on the Hawke SW's. The 20X set up really spreads the reticle which to me makes it easier to choose and shoot those "in between mildot ranges" Anyway I think it's going to work great on my Wildcat. Thanks again Dillon for the offer.
