Just wanted to double check your decimal point in the above targets of the recovered slug. How is the hole (.075") smaller than .177" projectile?

More to come.

I think these pellet gauges are a great tool for comparing batches of pellets or slugs and sorting into same dimension groups, regardless of what size they are but they are all grouped in "same size" lots. However accurate enough to give actual dimensions I would question. These slugs are made inside a .178 precisely made carbide die. They are not going to have snap back of over .001 and if the die was 4.54 mm instead of 4.52 mm the lead would bleed past the punches and would not be clean slugs on the bases.

These slugs are .178 +/- .0002 or so which would be 4.516-4.526 mm. You can see from a high precision micrometer in a test stand these slugs are very close to .178" / 4.52mm

I'm not doubting your results Nick. If they are 4.52 avg then the old 15g must have been smaller, or the new slugs must use harder lead. I say this because the old 15g chamber with very little resistance while the new 12.5g need more force to seat in the barrel. Same gun used for testing on the same day. I think Jerry Couples is the gentleman you need to adress about accuracy of the pellet guage. Maybe you two can work on a slug gauge to gain more resolution/accuracy.

There is nothing wrong his pellet gauge at all I just saying they are not accurate enough to provide precise measurements. We use tools for for what they are good for and these gauges are fantastic for sorting ammo into like groups of diameters. Does not matter how precise it is because they all grouped from the same gauge. I just don't want misleading information about my slugs out there is all.

The reason these are harder to load is not the lead it is the shape of the nose. These are stubby and bigger meplat compared to the older ones. This means more rifle engagement quicker and will you will feel more resistance when loaded. All the slugs use the same lead. The only reason I comment is so incorrect information about my product is not floating around and is in no way a dig on anyone or any product.
