Theoben SLR98 scope search...

Looking for a scope for a Theoben SLR98.

They are well known scope killers and the scope needs to be sturdy and fairly short to avoid loading issues.

A 1" would be preferred since I haven't found 30mm rings for it yet.

I also would like to find something with high magnification and a side parallax.

Any suggestions?

BTW, also looking for a .22 single shot tray for the same gun if anyone has one they can part with.

Call Martin Rutherford ask if he has the Picatinny base so you just take off those proprietary Theoben 1" rings and just use your own. The Theoben Rapid 7 guys may chime in if the mags and ss tray are gonna work or ask Martin. Yo!

That's a tall ask. I really don't think you'll be able to find a proper scope for the SLR98. I think to avoid frustration, grey hair and possible hair loss down the road....your best bet would be to simply send the gun to me and save yourself a lot of heartache.

As far as your criteria of a short scope, I'm afraid I'm not much help. With a classy gun, such as that one I would think one would want an equally classy scope. I would look for older Bushnell Legend or similar, but I'm not sure about the length of those, sorry.

I bought 30mm rings from Martin and mounted an Athlon midas 2.5-15x50!

Its been holding up so far and life time warranty! Another thing is mine came shooting pretty hot at almost 16fpe and I lowered the power to around 14fpe ! Makes for a better shot cycle and not as harsh on scopes! 

Another scope in 1" that really doesn't meet your needs is the Sightron 4-12×40 FT front AO. I love the reticle and its been holding up on my .177!

OR JUST SHIM THE REAR OF THE BASE (no not the rear ring the whole base) AT LEAST .010 MINIMUM. BUT if only using a LOW MAG scope no problem but you're not gonna able to optically center it without following these corrective measures. Yo!

Do you think it would hold up to the recoil?

What about the SWFA 20x42? Of course I would need the 30mm rings. YO!
