Theoben Rapid .177 "Dial of Death" vs. Squirrels @ 75 yards.

Theoben Rapid MK2 .177 "Dial of Death" vs. Squirrels @ 75 yards.

Rifle Power: NSA 15.5g slugs @ 775 fps @ 20.68 fpe...

At 20 fpe she is performing very quietly w/ the Huggett moderator. I didnt want to shoot slugs fast and loud so I dialed the power down to meet my needs as accuracy & silence is always priority. Both shots were taken within 10 mins of each other. I like head shots due to collecting the meat to barter w/ friends. I understand 75 yards is a good distance for a .177 cal but I trust the Rapid & her accuracy while shooting prone on the ground. At 75 yards the NSA 15.5g slugs impacted the skulls @ about 12 fpe. After retrieval, the squirrel that was shot in the side of his head was a total pass though & the squirrel that was shot in the eye, the slug was lodged in his head/neck...

Nice shooting! Since you mention THEOBEN Rapids (Gotta LOVE them) I bough 2 in the last month. Ones a fully duked up one LIKE YOURS and just got this one the other day still a virgin except for a Huggett at the end from my longtime good friend Lou Ferrigno. I bought a lot from him over the years. I think I'm going to leave it stock. It shoots just like a regulated gun throughout its entire fill and I just need to count how many magazines I shoot before refilling. Probably end up putting a LEUPOLD EFR Custom shop 6.5-20x40AO TRI MOA or Horus 59 when LEUPOLD custom shop reopens and probably in the mean time use a $299 Japan BUSHNELL TAC 5-15x40AO SFP perfect 15x Mildot that looks just as clear as my SWFA SS 3-15x15x42 FFP at less than half the price. Clickable and fully repeatable too.

Yo: Your good friend Lou Ferrigno?? As in the Lou Ferrigno? That’s quite a name drop...

and to this guy: “I like head shots due to collecting the meat to barter w/ friends.”

You have more interesting friends than me I guess.

Growing up in NYC there were few opportunities to barter for meat. Lots of rats on the train tracks though. If you were bored and living in New York City and had a decent springer pistol and liked to live dangerously, I suppose you could head down to less popular subway stops and shoot rats all evening until the police showed up.

As a teen in NYC the police turned their heads on nearly everything we did - public drinking, weed, trespassing, even some altercations. Just didn’t have the interest in bothering juvenile delinquents I guess. I also recall some scandal of “resale” of confiscated drugs in our local precinct at that time so maybe they had other things on their minds.
