Theoben dual magnum, who?

The Dual Magnums came both Beeman and Theoben stamped as well as walnut or laminate stocks. The Beeman typically had a light "blonde" stock and the Theoben's were a bit darker.

Here are mine;

Wow, thanks for that but this is not from Beeman it is from Straight Shooters. I will ad this to my Dual Mag info that I collect. The test though are MILES off the factory claim and what I have found with my 2. 28fpe is the highest they seem to have tested where one of mine makes as high as 38 and has not been serviced or altered in any way. An article in a UK airgun magazine had a DM on test and verified 37fpe with Kodiak pellets.

Yes sorry it’s from Straight Shooters. Yes defo don’t have them tuned for max power. Mine is likely to have had the power altered at some stage and is also around 28fpe on 2 strokes but I didn’t check that with the 21g barracuda’s. That was with a lighter pellet.
It really is 2 guns and I suppose and different people would tune it for there particular needs. There’s huge power there it you want it. It is odd to do a review and not have it at max though. They certainly were impressed with it and it must have been a disappointment that it didn’t sell in larger numbers.
I also got a price list I’ll scan and post asap

Yes, I was very surprised the fpe was so low compared to the factory rating on the test rifle. The manual says they can be used as low as 12/20. I do have different power levels set up on my 2 rifles. The Theoben is 19/31fpe and the Beeman marked one is 25/37fpe.

Cant imagine a piston gun at 37fpe! Hows the shot cycle feel?

Shot cycle never concerns me and something I hardly focus on. I laugh each time I hear the expression "kicks like a mule" when talking about airguns. The only thing I care about is a nasty twang. I can even live with a slight twang as long as the pellet goes where I aim. To answer the question you asked, with the 21gr Kodiak and shooting at full power the recoil is pretty impressive for an airgun and recoil is quite quick/sharp. There is no mistaking you just pulled the trigger on the most powerful factory produced piston gun ever made. Using the Kodiak pellet at the factory claim of 840fps= 33+fpe the pellet is still exceeding the 12fpe limit many have to deal with at 160 yards! A UK magazine had one on test that made 37fpe with the same pellet and at those specs it's exceeding 12fpe @174 yards. Accuracy is reported to be about 1/2'' @40 yards and a very impressive 1 1/2'' @75!

Man this gun is just as impressive as the 54’s sled technology, more so because you can’t find anything like it being manufactured today. I have a limited knowledge of springers/gas guns so there’s probably more impressive tech than a 54 but man is this Theoben cool. Super magnum, gas piston that’s accurate. Out of all the guns you(DualmagMike) have shared on this forum this one is the most badass.

The 54/56 sledge is borrowed/old technology just the gas ram is although many think both are newer innovations. The FWB150 I believe was the first to use the sledge ~1961! Theoben, the first gas ram came about the early 80's. There really is nothing like the Dual Magnums before or since. From the unprecedented power to easily used "dual power" and ability to be used from 12-36fpe they are utterly unique. More impressive than the sledge technology is the Giss system recoiless rifles. The sledge guns are actually semi recoiless whereas the Giss is recoiless. It uses dual opposing pistons to cancel the action of the other and is old tech also ~1960 and was invented by Diana I believe. The Whiscombe rifles later used it also and I think those were the only 2 company's to use that very complex recoil suppression system.
