The wait is almost over...

Your point is well taken in that the mere metric of SD of weight is not sufficient to assess the ballistic profile of a projectile. The ballistic coefficient ("BC") of a projectile encompasses a panoply of metrics, including SD. The BC of JSBs are at the top of the pellet market. The idiosyncratic characteristics of the weapon used also plays a material part in performance. I am of the mind that until I get my unique platform out in the field laboratory and conduct my own scientific tests, I am not confident of the validity of reported results. Reviewing performance results of others is a good starting point, but there is no substitute for personal empirical data.

Yeah, that's the very first thing I do with a new rifle is the 'ole Chrony thang (right after I give 'er hole the 'ole in 'n out with the cleaning swabs). Man, I can't wait to get my baby out in the field; I have all the implements of mass destruction ready to go! I'll ask Sandra about the whole picatinny thang tomorrow if she picks up. She's answered the phone the last two times I called.

Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end ------------- A lot of good music came out in the mid 70's.

I should be sleeping but my meds are keeping me up so I've been surching for as much info as possible on the HM line and looking at different stocks, still going with the Charcoal I believe but the blue is a close call. I still would like to find more info on the barrel, might have to call RAW on that.

I just talked to Sandra. She told me an accessory rail channel has not been machined into my forestock. She said it would be no problem doing so though without delaying shipment. She told me Martin is building my rifle today, and she will ship in two weeks! What I saw Martin doing in the RAW Factory Tour video was him installing a Euro Rail into the machined slot in a forestock. A Picatinny Rail conversion kit can then be slid in place into the Euro Rail. I amended (yet again) my order to include the installation of the Euro Rail and the Picatinny Rail conversion kit. Sandra and Martin have been great! RAW is a class act :)

Thanks for giving me a heads-up on this whole deal. I'm still baffled as to why this was a point of contention. This issue really needs to be addressed in RAW's marketing materials. But, no harm, no foul :)

Yeah, Dirte (I love that name and your avatar!); thanks for that. Sandra explained all that to me. You're right, the Picatinny Rail conversion kit is $35. I didn't ask how much the milling and installation of the Euro Rail is. Two hundred dollars sounds about right. I'm getting the full Monte regardless, so why torture myself!

BTW, I'm having a helluva time trying to add a picture to my profile. I can't figure out how to convert a pic to .jpg. A little help? Also, I'm trying to change my handle from "marcella69" to "Animal Hitman." It has changed on my profile page, but it still shows marcella69 on my posts.

Glad you got the rail figured out, myself I'm doing everything I can not to call Sandra but I should be getting distracted shortly being UPS should be here in the next hour with my AV Compressor so that will keep me busy for a bit.

I think Dirte got me rethinking the regulator issue, think I might just order it regulated and if I so desire I can remove the regulator and try it unregulated, checked out videos and it's not a big thing to remove it.

Man, you're gonna have fun with your new compressor! I love mine. Aside from my gun itself, it's the best investment I've made in my airgun journey.

I've found the best time to get hold of Sandra is to call at 8:30am (Mon-Fri) Tennessee time. RAW is closed tomorrow. That makes me smile; a company owned by a Brit being closed on America's Independence Day!

I read Dirte's post and his advice makes a lot of sense. I think it's the way to go. His way, you have a regulated platform while hunting, and you can still tether her to the bench. Your POI is gonna be all over the place beyond 50 yards w/o regulation. That'll get old quick. Why short-shrift performance in an otherwise top-notch rifle? That's the way I feel, anyway.

Ok, as far as I know, unless the gun's description on RAW's website indicates the machined European rail is included on the rifle it is not. The stock will be milled, and the rail will be installed as a $60. option on the initial order if requested. The Picatinny rail may be ordered as an accessory and is mounted in the European rail.
If you do not order the European rail it can be retrofitted by the factory at a higher cost, but you will also have to pay postage and wait until the factory has set up the tooling for a run of production guns.

My order will be as follows when I call in. 1 HMx .357 regulated (130) and then I'm going to go with the Charcoal Stock with thumbhole and adjustable Cheek piece, sling studs and with the Picatinny rail conversion and delivered yesterday, just kidding about the last part, well maybe hahaha.
Now I need to go to my gun shop and get the Atlas Bipod ordered and get that Vortex set aside for me.
