The rookie perish of open sight airgunning

About two weeks ago I had a short shooting session prior to the barrel cleaning that was due on the new airgun. I cleaned the barrel using the pull method and did some more shooting afterwards. Put the gun in the hardcase and ended the day. Next morning took the gun to do some more shooting and it was consistently shooting about 2 inches to the left. Checked all and everything seemed fine. I re-adjusted the windage on the rear sight and kept on shooting. Fast forward to last Saturday I was cleaning the gun and found out that the front sight screw was totally loose. Maybe 6 or 7 turns out. Moved it with my hand and the front sight slided right off the barrel. So I put it back again tighten the screw, did some minor adjustments and all is good again. I think that was the issue I got a few weeks ago, I had a very loose front sight that apparently shifted the POI. So far all is good now.

That's another reason why I need to get a good gunsmiths tools set. I wouldn't touch the gun with crappy screw drivers. Fortunately I had a set of quality Japanese bits that fit nicely without marking or deforming the screw.

Cheers!

I made the mistake of leaning my Gamo against a chair yesterday while I went to wash my hands. I heard the crash.....swearword, picked it up and put it on the couch. Picked it up a short time later and noticed the glo center from the front sight was gone. I found it busted off across the room. luckily only a 13 dollar lesson. You just forget that things can happen with the front sight too !
