Good luck YO. The man clearly has a lot of experience in his realm of things.'ve always taken his words with a grain of salt due to the amount of anonymity he carries with him, and overall lack of backing for what info he does give out I. I've tried to do business with him in the past, and it seemed he basically wanted me to take a loss or break even with extra steps aquiring a used item... when I could get it for less new in one step. Odd. But it seems he does help a lot of people. And I do appreciate that. I'll check out the new site if I can honestly remember to. I'm sure it will surface in future conversation.

Hard to say this-"The man clearly has a lot of experience" followed by "I've always taken his words with a grain of salt due to the amount of anonymity he carries with him, and overall lack of backing for what info he does give out I."

If you don't know who he is, you can't know that he has a lot of experience. But i'd agree that he has a lot of opinion.

You CAN know a lot about people from their posts. You can also tell a lot about how helpful someone is by watching their approval rating go up. Apparently in any incarnation Yo can earn green balls five times as fast as any other forum member.

It's very clear by what he does say, how he says it, and the response of others to what he says... That he does indeed use airguns. Not just some, he has used a lot of them. For a significant period of time as well. That much is blatantly apparent. Beyond that..... It's hard to say or tell

But does it really tell you that? I mean the "time" it took to get those accuracy points?

I mean based on his number of posts he has an average accuracy point on just 1.87% of his posts. 164 accuracy points in 8786 posts.

In contrast even yourself with this account, being here less time, have an accuracy point in 3.18% of your posts. 14 accuracy points in 440 posts.

A post CAN contain information taken from other related posts, or from current research. I don't disagree that he seems to have experience. But as someone noted above, few people seem to be actual experts on EVERYTHING. On the internet, for almost anything, you cannot "know" who anyone is. You can believe you know who they are, based on just your opinion, or based on how many people vote to move approval rating up, or any other method of believing, but you cannot "know" unless you've actually interacted directly with the person in question.

Logical. +1 to you. Odd how that works, ain't it?

True. There's an old saying that maybe relates to this topic. "Beware the man who owns one gun".

Now that's an interesting perspective. That's called the "signal to noise" ratio. Might be interesting to see that calculated for every user. =)

Your SNR is 5.54% 116/2093... Not bad!

You have to throw out one of mine though mikey got his panties in a bunch over one of the posts in this thread and just wanted to say the post was "terrible" ... Funny how a post like that leads to someone tossing in an anonymous negative comment on a green ball. I STILL think the red/green system was vastly superior to what we have now but ALMOST all of us know what opinions are like, eh?

33/2929 Your SNR is 0.0113 or 1.13% whereas Yo's is 1.87% so yeah... Yes it is odd how that works out. Maybe there is something to that signal to noise ratio.

Well, best I can tell, his advice does seem to be personal to him and his experience. Maybe I'm wrong. But he does invest a lot of time trying to help and share, and I do respect that.

Same here. The effort is appreciated, and he often supplies useful links (but one would have to consider some recent links that weren't very "helpful" as well). But there is a difference in trying to help or even wanting to help AND who/what someone actually is. We can see an effort at the former through his posting, and it is commendable. Those of us who have never actually met him have NO IDEA on the latter. Relates directly to needing to "take his words with a grain of salt".

You are right. He has invested a lot of time in trying to provide information to people on the forum. His ratio of approval to posts would have been enormously higher had he not posted so many irrelevant posts. If there is an analogy it might be that Yo is like a stream flowing out of the mountains there is an awful lot of sand and gravel but if you dig deep enough you will find plenty of gold. (This is not aimed in your direction there Dallas) There is a similar analogy which can be made about many, it involves a sewer coming out of Los Angeles... 😉

<sarcasm>

But we are going to rake this fellow over the coals till the cows come home and then we will switch back to the brain dead question, "Where is Ted?" because this is an AIRGUN forum and ...

</sarcasm>

I sold some stuff to him and gave him my phone number, Now I am getting so much junk on my phone that I am thinking about changing my number that I have had for 16 years,, Just pretty strange....

Mike

Pretty hard to make that connection. Every time you buy something on-line they want your phone number. Facebook just lost 500 million phone numbers of their users in a hack last month. There is a bigger hack than that of user data at FB which is about to break as well. Do you have a Facebook account? Google is now trying to connect all your accounts under their umbrella. They are using your phone and your gmail accounts to do that. Do you have a gmail account? The list is endless.

The implication is as insulting as if I were to accuse you of somehow giving out my private number, don't you think? He bought something from you and you now ASSUME he gave your number away and post it on a public forum with ZERO evidence... That just ain't right.
